God bless y'all here. Yup the U.S. military definitely has a "hiding crime" problem unfortunately. I'm speaking as a U.S. Marine Grunt Veteran. I can share some details but that isn't necessary. The fort hood stuff didn't come to national attention in 2020. Does nobody remember the 2009 and 2014 fort hood mass shootings?
My brother served 5 years in the army 6 years in the Marines. I remember him telling me how toxic the army's culture was. This segment confirms it.
Most of these cases involve Hispanic soldiers, what a coincidence 🤔.
Yet another reason that causes me to ask a question why in the hell would anyone want to serve this country. The entire developed world is corrupt and morally bankrupt.
Major General Richardson seems to be completely clueless, or at least a lackey.
It is true that the appointment of an independent judicial body would be a signal to the American people that Commanding Officer's cannot be totally entrusted.
But my question is: Is a wall of Silence and scores of found bodies and missing Servicemen supposed to be what bolster trust? Furthermore, the reputation of the military with respect to violent crimes, and especially violent sexual crimes, is not one that was founded in hysteria over the course of a couple recent cases, but is an on-going issue that has been taking place for *decades*. At this point, it is clear that this not something that a few commanders were responsible for in isolated cases, but rather a (hopefully) small, on-going culture spanning multiple successive commands.
It is encouraging to see that they have dismissed service members and made commitments to prioritize the criminal problems going forward, but a further question remains that if the Commanders are only accountable to themselves on the success of these initiatives, how likely is it that those prosecuted for crimes would only be those that command has taken issue with? How will cases be handled when favored NCOs are caught, and Officers are hesitant to bring charges?
Maj. Gen. Richardson is right, this sort of problem is analogous to a cancer which can take root, but he fails to realize, or is extraordinarily hesitant to admit, that in this case there is no risk of a cancer taking root, because a cancer has already taken root.
If they claim to uphold high standards of ethics, and in truth I do believe that in nearly every metric besides this they often DO uphold high standards of Ethics, then they must understand and readily admit that transparency is key. Accountability from above is the only true accountability there is. They must be willing to admit that, before they are Americans, Patriots, or Soldiers, they are Human beings. Humans can err, Humans have biases, and Humans may often wish to protect those they consider friends, or worse, may be hesitant to believe that those they considered friends would ever be capable of crimes. It is very disingenuous (but perhaps, still human) for them to demand trust of themselves, but to be so distrusting of everyone else, and be so against a just and fair process designed to enhance accountability.
Sadly, the responses given by the 2-star is basically, more of the same. This 'don't worry about-it mentality' is detrimental to the moral and trust of the troops. I think he was looking in the mirror when he used the phrase, trust deficit. These problems are widespread and real reform, minus the political fake outrage, has to prevail, otherwise, trust in the system will erode which will lead to mission degradation.
It’s sad being apart of a corrupt organization. There are times I truly regret joining the military I know females and males who are victims of SA and are scared to speak up.

As a veteran I can say Their system is made for higher ups. People with rank. They abuse their power nd look out for their own. I had an officer put his hands on me grabbing me while down range . Other officers seen what happened but I got in trouble for responding to him with words. I got demoted and they moved him to a different unit. When I tried take it to legal and fight it they basically told me he was wrong but I prob won’t win. Also that the jury consist of like 2 or 3 officers and one enlisted. So I’m sure they would have his back as well.
All the bullshit that happens in the military a lot of people don’t even know. There’s real sick and dangerous people wearing the uniforms.
I’m sure most of those cases bein thrown out is people with rank. The lower ranks usually are quick to get punished
Fort Hood is a problem. I havent seen craziness like this anywhere else. But Navy is a lot different than the army

When my friend James came back from Iraq he took his own life at base. It was really hard on all of us. He shot himself in the back of the head with a long barrelled shotgun. Wiped down the gun and set it on the floor near the front door. He then washed his hands and layed down on the floor exactly where he had shot himself. If youre thinking "well that makes no sense at all", yah we were saying that too.

Like on a Ship at Sea, I can understand you need a power structure where orders are law; but on a base in the Heartland, I can see the Army moving in the direction of the USAF just a corporation model where at work your "Boss" is important but crimes are investigated by civilians and there is an independent IG more outside the COC than the current IG/JAG Os

I remember a comment on Vice's "American Terror" video about extremism in the military saying that Vice should make an entire video about Fort Hood and all of its problems. A lot of people replied saying that Vice were too woke or cowardly to cover the issue, but I'm glad to see that they actually looked into the situation! Too bad they didn't alter the soldier's voices though :/
I served from 99' to 03" in Germany. I heard from my NCOs that you never wanted to be stationed at Ft. Hood.
lol 13 years ago I got orders for Fort Hood. Best believe I talked to my retention officer to get new orders for another base because it’s wild there! The issues have been going on a long time. I’m glad they’re being brought to light, and I hope it doesn’t stop.
