Ren – Power (Official Music Video)

Power is out now on all major streaming platforms

http://hyperurl.co/knlyuy

This track marks my first entirely independent free of management release in years, it feels so good to have total control. Coming at this with a brand new energy. All written, produced, played, mixed and mastered by yours truly.

In the spirit of independence the absolute best thing you guys can do is share the absolute crap out of this tune. Play it loud, lots of new music coming very soon!

Gettttttit!

Here are the lyrics for anyone who wants em

    Get it, uh, power

These kids don't play my shit
I never had a top ten
maybe its cause I sing about violence and depression
They say don't blame these kids just focus on yourself Ren
Well if they don't like what I'm doing now then fuck them

Don't trip I up the ante
    Learning licks like John fruciante
    Smoking spliffs and popping candy
    Idolising Sid and Nancy
Wooh, rock and roll in my soul
Bumping Nat King Cole, on the dole
Fish and chips and games consoles
    Council housed and violent flow

But Life weren’t sweet at home
Mum and dad took a trip and they split shalom
What will be will be but me I hate to see my mum alone
    Late night crying
Get so high to try to silence sounds of fighting
    Through the walls
    I heard love dying
    So I focused on my

    (Power)
Thats what it was, I focused on my
    (Power)
Now lets go back, lets go back

These kids don’t play my shit
I never had a gold plaque
my style is old-school but I swear this ain’t a throwback
I put my visions into rhythms on a dope track
to understand the place i'm coming from lets go back

When I was sixteen I was a sick teen
I was a victim of my head
I was just sixteen up in the kitchen racking up lines till my nose bled
Sixteen with an affliction, in an addiction with my dread
I was just sixteen, I was quite sick then, I was a prick then, I was a pleb, but

Fuck it, were all misguided, individuals life can
Suck it, my cup ain’t half full man i'm filling up the whole
Bucket, Ill drink my tears so I can drown my sorrows
Sing like I might die tomorrow
live brother, brother, brother, brother, brother, brother, brother

Note for note I go for broke on every song I wrote
And every single song I write brings freedom to my weary mind
A healing that you only find inside an intricate design
Of kicks and snares and fat baselines
I flip the script until I find my

    (Power)
it is what it is, I focus on my
    (Power)
Now run the track, run the track

    Get it

  2. @Ren, Scouser living in New Zealand. Born April 13th, on a Friday. Me mam and me Da split when I were 13, I too heard love dying through the walls.
I too turned inwards and found myself through music and the ancient scripture of India.

    Love you brother. 💚🍀💚🍀

  3. I love that you can see the homie paying attention to the road but also trying to pay attention to the music and be involved in it and enjoying himself in between him paying attention to the road music is very powerful some get lost in the music and stop paying attention and end up in a bad situation either metaphorical or literal stay paying attention to more than just the music that goes for the artist aswell not just the listener/consumer but I just wanted to point that out nd again I love that the homie is vibing and still paying attention some clips you can see how much he’s trying to get through the traffic and some clips he’s dancing slightly with you it’s just fantastic that this was able to be done

  5. Ren is a lyrical genius and unbelievable talent! We were born in the same hospital so I’m super proud to see someone from so close to home start getting recognition. I suffer with chronic pain and PTSD too so I can relate to a lot of his songs 🫶
