I have read a mediocre book entitled My Visit to Hell that's Dante-like but I have yet to hear a really good contemporary version of The Divine Comedy. I think where Durante (Dante) Alighieri got everything wrong was the sense of order The Inferno had. If there were a place like it, it would be far more chaotic and fearsome where the very laws of nature contradict each other. Especially in regard to the elements. Still, I'd love to read or hear a modern day Divine Comedy. Nightmares Nightly had one about the Nine Circles.
