I don't really think that Giraffes are aggressive animals, especially not in that kind of environment.
I doubt very much that it would have meant any real harm, but the reaction of the parents is obviously completely understandable and I am sure that will have been why the giraffe let go immediately because of the Mum yelling at it.
I hope that all are well and none the worse for their experience, although I dare say that the Mum and Dad may have enjoyed a drink later that day.
