  1. Auto battling is a step backwards for me man. To put it into perspective imagine (and I KNOW comparing this to a pokemon game is old and tiring but it is the STANDARD scale at this point) if something like Pokemon Conquest , which is a similar enough premise, did this whish would you have prefered the original or the auto battle. Auto battling is one of the lowest forms of interactivity out of all the possible choices for gameplay. The main argument autobattlers usually have in terms of why it is enjoyable is "Oh well there is a lot of STRATEGY, ANALYSIS, and most of all ANTICIPATING/PREDICTING your opponents moves!" to that I say yeah but that usually happens BEFORE the actual BATTLE that most people would want to be a part of. Like I usually consider that to be the same as deck building but without you actually playing the cards. If they put out a Yu-gi-oh game that was FULLY automatic it'd be boring AF.

  2. Auto battling is an interesting topic of discussion.

As I’ve been developing my own monster tamer, I’ve wrestled with the idea of having auto battle mechanics due to my interest in adventuring alongside monsters who think for themselves. I think bonds are much more organic and stronger if a monster acts on their own.

Obviously, if I give commands, all I can ever do is take the blame for what does or doesn’t happen. At most, I can deem a monster either weak or strong depending on the situation and battle system.

However, how cool is it to not know what’s going to happen beyond the strategy you set in place outside of the battle? You just have to trust that the monsters will perform. I think rng based mechanics are best used with auto battling because you can lean more into whatever happens and be happier when it all works out. Conversely, you can have real reasons not to like a creature if they fail.

To me, it’s more organic that way. I might give it a try.

But like Ed said, I haven’t given much to the auto battling in terms of playtime due to most games that use it lacking story. Excited to see what they do with it.

  3. Hmm i love the art style and the auto battling system looks like it might be interesting if those little clips of pathways and obstacles pose some sort of difficulty in combat. Definitely trying that demo during next fest.

  4. Auto battler huh… isn‘t Digimon World more or less an auto battler as well? Anyway a combat system has never deterred me from trying out a game that caught my eye with its vibes. And this one definitely has a vibe I‘m liking! Music is beautiful too.
