The father of the 17-year-old boy involved in a fatal car accident that killed two people has been arrested by Pune Police. The accident took place in the early hours of Sunday morning in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area. According to police reports, a luxury Porsche, driven by the 17-year-old, collided with a motorcycle, instantly killing Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa. The crash, captured on CCTV, revealed the car travelling at an estimated speed of 200 kmph in a narrow lane.

With the accused getting bail immediately on a Sunday, it has brought the Yerawada police station under a scanner which is facing severe criticism and it only show's the handling of the case, alleged Dhaneglar adding, “Infact, it has been observed that minor clauses were applied to facilitate an easy bail process for the accused. It has been also alleged that the accused was treated with undue leniency, including being served biryani and pizza while in custody. Despite the severity of the crime, the accused was swiftly produced in a vacation court, leading to immediate bail, as all charges were bailable which raises doubts and questions equally.”

19th May 2024, Anish Awadiya and Ashwini Koshta were struck and killed by Vedant Agarwal, 17, who was driving a Porshe Taycan (with no license plate) under the influence of alcohol. Vedant Agarwal is the son of well known builder Vishal Agarwal, the owner of Bramha Realty and Infrastructure. Due to his connections with the police and politicians, Vedant got out on bail in under a day. The lawyer representing him, Adv Prashant Patil, has been associated with the likes of people like Jacqueline Fernandez, Suraj Pancholi and many others.
Vedant, along with 2 of his friends were seen partying in nearby clubs in Kalyani Nagar. They returned to their car drunk at 3:15AM, and Vedant forced his driver to let him drive the car, even though the driver kept asking him to not do it. The Agarwal family is now trying to shift the blame on the innocent driver, making it look like he was the one who was driving when the accident took place. According to law, Vedants father too should be facing prosecution and jailtime.
