New World Weapon Meta Shift! Players Are Taking More Damage!



New World Resilience Perk Bug is fixed. This change affected the meta for PVP and PVE. Making ranged dps builds better than most melee dps builds. It is still to early to tell which best meta PVP or PVE weapons will dominate the meta but with Resilient being fixed it is a much harder time for melee dps to beat certain range dps builds. We will talk about how this is effecting melee weapon players and a shift towards ranged weapons and healers in the Pvp Game. We will also go over PVE and the difficulty of dungeons increasing now that everyone is taking far more damage than before. I predict we will see a bit more Con stat in play and less pure glass cannon builds!

  1. I think as far as PVE and dungeons goes it might be better to simply have a healer in plate along now with sword/shield. You, as the tank, runs sacred + beacon + orb, and healer runs orb, splash of light, and Light's embrace with either both always on staff perks (mana regen + healing % from other tree) or the stam perk on LE. The healer would have sword and board too to cover you with defensive formation when you're unable to block edit: as well as shield rush for AOE weaken. Due to the large row of buffs Light's Embrace will do a lot more work, and at base with both always on perks will give you an extra 60% on it's healing. I am s till not clear on whether or not defensive formation stacks when multiple people run it, and that's something to test. The threat gen of life staff is still pretty high even with the nerfs to it but it's something that would have to be played with to see if it's still as good since all the adjustments.

    Alternative is to have the tank run ice gauntlet secondary with the mana to stam perk plus entombed and ice storm. That gives you some extra block time, plus entombed. As of last I checked, entombed did not clear the aggro table. You can grab defiant freeze as well, but it's such a short duration I don't see it being too valuable. One with the shield in the sword/shield tree plus reverse stab results in defiant stance spam still. I felt like I was getting more mileage out of one with the shield than the tooltip suggests as I was seeing reductions of a full second constantly.

  3. Rapiers gapcloser?! Teleport in, dodge roll then chow that bowuser up. This opens up for more experimentental builds, instead of the old boring metas. The way the game was meant

  4. game is in such a shit state, no reason to run melee literally at all unless you run gaxe/life staff, dex builds are a meme unless u run bow/musket but musket is by far the worst ranged weapon in the game… may as well go IG/fire staff since its best in every situation. weapon that u have fun playing with turns out to be absolute garbage? go full focus and run lifestaff secondary!

    worst part of this meta is that its been the same since launch, and the only time it changed was when hatchet/gaxe were absolutely broken last week due to a bug, along with fire staff + ice glove doing zero damage.

    i dont see any meaningful balance changes happening anytime soon, since theyre too busy fixing the game and bringing it to an actual launch-worthy state… taking a long break from the game, RMT'd all my gold away since ik its just gonna crash after the dupe lmao

I honestly completely disagree with almost everything heavy armor is still to good also spear and rapier are secondary weapons for ranged people thats why i think there amazing still with lots of mobility those weapons make it easy to get out of situations also great axe has a lot of mobility also hatchet with the self heal as well is still usefull the onl thing thats effected by this is the unkillable healers are now slightly more killable its not that big of a meta shift at all

I never used resilant gear and still was able to stay light in outpost rush and normal equip load in wars with great axe sword build double gap closers you could stick on anyone using shield block/passive regain +50% damage reduction and the 15% heal you could still be super dps and be tanky at same time.. it’s the only dps build to counter getting rooted by IG and you take no damage since you can block all the magic long enough to leap out of it and back on mage. Light roll + great axe charge+ blood lust+ sword leap you can stay on top of anyone.. it’s a build I haven’t shared yet but it’s crazy good!

  7. I have 3 weapons yet to cap and played many builds while trying to find a combo that I enjoy more than the next. Was Dex/Int build and working on gear for focus/con/str. Paladin looks to be epic for a tank with heals in a group.

  8. Ran a few games as the standard 200 str/con melee build. You just melt immediately man. Melees are still strong in premade groups with other melees and healers to run alongside, but generally speaking, I'm kind of getting smoked before I can make much of a move. I think we're going to enter a light armor meta. Since heavy armor doesn't give you enough survivability, I think even melee dps will gradually move into light armor to dodge around and look for quick in and out opportunities.

  9. The patch that saved the game. No more fire staff switching machine guns, no more hatchet berserk stacking auto spamming, less axe users and the revival of light armor! My ice gaunt fire staff now actually does the damage it should, bows nearly 1 shot people in light with a head shot.. the way the game should be!
