Assassin's Creed was always woke. The difference is that in the older games (AC1 to Unity) it was subtextual and subtle which frankly is even more dangerous than it being overt and obvious like it's been since Syndicate. The anti-christian and anti-west progressive propaganda message and obsession with reframing history with racial and collectivist communistic lenses and anti-capitalist fear mongering (Abstergo) was always there, which is why it's problematic that so many people like you bought and played the older AC games because it allowed Ubisoft to get away with it and become untouchable once they decided to take off their hood and reveal their true creed.
Real life history is that the Templars were a honorable morally righteous organization that were betrayed Order 66 style by France and wiped out because they wanted their money and saw them as a political liability and many muslims, french historians, enlightenment era atheists and hollywood filmmakers rewrote them to be evil radical authoritarian absolutists obsessed with religious artifacts to conquer the world and who formed freemasonry, all of which are not true and designed to create anti-white, anti-west and anti-religious sentiment.
Ubisoft is run by people who have played a long game of over centuries, waiting to destroy the west through propaganda in media and entertainment in an effort to turn the west into the middle east. That is why the Hassassins of real life history (a muslim order who did ritualistic sacrifices, hitman work and were religious fanaticals who had a beef with the Templars) were framed as "liberators and freedom fighters" and the Templars were framed as evil for protecting the world order and reinforcing cultural norms through high moral standing and religious conservatism, which to muslims, aetheists, woke, progressive liberals and LGBT people makes the Templars a threat if they are taken as inspirational or shown as victims of genocide, both of which would rally white western men to fight back against these outside groups when these various groups make the move to take over the world. It is Ubisoft and the Assassins who are evil, not the real life or video game Templars.
I loved AC growing up because i loved history and action games but it was always a evil video game franchise preaching communist rhetoric with "Nothing is true, everything is permitted" and how it mocks religion by saying aliens are behind it all and how it promotes the idea of turning a group of radical killers into a organization where it's influence spreads across the globe obsessing over putting a end to western culture (Templars) and hoarding and hiding away pseudo-christian artifacts which are technically property of the Templar’s ancestors (the Isu) so it's also preaching that non-white and non-western groups are more deserving of the native culture’s powers and they must be taken away to prevent a dominant white cultural and religious empire.
AC frames the Templar's goals of a dominant white cultural and religious empire as inherently broken because the Isu were slave owners of humans and the Templars cannot empathize with humanity because they aren't human themselves and that their religion is blasphemous delusion when the Assassins show that it can all be explained with scientific rationale and that anarchy is true freedom while claiming to be “protectors of the light” by murdering people throughout history and by showing up in white western countries and manipulating and undermining their politics through Marxist rebellions and spreading a anti-religious religion across the globe and selectively indoctrinating already dissenting and angry people into their fold.
The Assassins are a secret society of communist activists with blades whose tactics are to use the dark to strike at the enemy, an allegory to communism or wokeness slowly undermining democracies through using manipulation and secrecy, all while claiming they serve the light aka represent humanity's desire for freedom…by pushing their world view as the dominant thing via changing cultures and politics and shutting down alternative thought via wiping out Templars who are always shown as one-sided cartoon characters to be lectured to every time you defeat them like a modern day woke activist lecturing the west that they are wrong, racist and against progress.
AC preaches a New World Order from it's very inception. The only thing that's changed is Ubisoft, like the WHO, are no longer hiding their intentions because they have successfully secured enough success and protection where they won't be taken down once they push this ideology further and modern culture is the entrapped in the first of political activism and death cult mentality and has been slow boiled to the point they not only can't escape it but think they cannot do anything and continue to keep buying AC either to complain about it's evil political agenda or praise it for it's evil political agenda or pretend the game isn't political, all while Ubisoft gets their money and funds the next attack on western culture and people. I regret ever liking AC to begin with and I understand now I, like many, unknowingly contributed to this monster because the games were subtextual and subtle about indoctrinating me into their ideology and leftist French politics. But I'm not a slave anymore now that I've grown up and it's your duty as well as mine to tell people:
“AC was always woke, was never good and you need to stop buying it because they have always hated you, your culture and your history and are using your money to replace you, your past, present and future with their New World Order which your ancestors were opposed to and fought against, which is why they are showcased as villains of history in this video game franchise”.

Now we have Yasuke a man from africa whos on record for only being in japan for 3 years and was nothing more than a slave on arrival, he didnt even a name let alone a single personal possession. DOESNT MAKE SENSE in a Japanese assasin game…
