  1. Nice story, but the human admiral was kinda dumb.

    1) he simply took the word of disstressed (SINGLE) alien individual, that "they" are the good ones attacked by the "bad ones" because of slavery and whatewer. What if the cats are slavers and the others simply want to "repay them" in kind? OR, what it was the slavers plot to pirate themselves a human battleship and its tech, alongside enslaving most of its crew, by utilizing some feline bait?

    2) Even when counting technological imbalance, war needs either INFORMATIONS (preferably on precieved enemies, their tech, morals, ways of war, quantity and locations of their resources, etc.), or own RESOURCES (people, ammo, ships, etc) – PREFERABLY BOTH.

    3) Dependingly on the enemy numbers and moral, that could invite not necessary, unvinnable war against extinction. For human colony -why not? Moral bravery suits military officials. For one of 2 unknown alien species fighting what seem extinction war, or at least enslavement war, that was reckless.
