Strictly speaking, Finland doesn't NEED NATO.
Sure, being part of NATO helps, but even without it, we could hold the line. Much is made of that 1340 km of border with Russia, much less said about the fact that only about 100 – 300km of that border is easy ground for tanks, APCs etc., the prefered arms of Russia. The rest are forest and lakes, good luck getting through those alive… Those 100-300km of easily traversible ground is, in turn easily saturated and mauled by the largest artillery capacity in Europe, which happens to be located in Finland.

My Great Grandfather fought for Finland in WWII, never knew the man but my mom told me he didn't like to talk about the war because of who Finland allied itself with (If you know, you know, but they didn't have much of a choice) I don't live in Finland myself but I have high respect for the people there and although Canada doesn't have the best military, I'd be willing to fight for them and the rest of NATO
