Sadly the ‘helper’ doesn’t give you duplicates of rich soil. I got lucky in the sense that I needed to harvest my large pumpkin patch anyway, so it was two birds one stone.
I just kind of did the event which has you harvest some stuff and cook with certain foods and got enough. But I also am a casual farmer so I had stuff planted already.
I have to say thank you for this series. It helps me know what materials I will need later or how to find something I am struggling with.
For digging the garden plot, it's good to have a digging buddy rather than harden buddy, because the digging buddy will produce extra soil/sand/clay – whatever you're digging – then grab the garden buddy for the planting and harvesting 😊

For cooking lots of things, pick the recipe then hit the autofill to speed up the process. You should definitely think about crafting chests too so you can store all the things.
From the time i opened up the Forgotten Lands, I have made 14.6 million coins from planting and harvesting pumpkins. Which also helped me level up the majority of my villagers. I am level 40 and everyone else is maxed out at 10. The best thing to do once you have money is to buy out the store every day, especially if you want to decorate. Also you need to make chests to store everything in, because you need everything eventually. For example I always have hundreds of rich soil socked away in a chest in my crafting room…
