  1. Man resident evil 5 was the best game of the series for sure. The turret and onrail parts do kinda suck ass though. as do the quick time events, its just the game that i can consistently have the most fun with and i find myself drawn back to playing it with my friends.

  2. I don't see why Capcom thinks this game needs a REmake. hell it was ported a million times. i'm hoping it flops so they move on to a CV REmake.
That being said, I played this game WAYYYYYYYYY too much and now I'm permanently burned out on it.

  3. I appreciate these kind of videos. While I disagree with most of the video because I loved RE5, despite not playing this game in over 10 years, I appreciate long form content and differing opinions. Also, Roger Craig Smith voiced Chris, not Troy Baker. This is a damn great video. Keep up the good work

  4. Can't wait for RE5 remake Mercenaries. This game has it's flaws, but when it comes to a co-op action shooter, none better come to mind, and I've played several.
Getting 2 good re5 players throwing down is a magical thing.

  5. I don't think it was Troy Baker who voiced Chris in this game 🤔

Overall though, I like RE5. Just give Sheva a sniper rifle and you're good to go. I don't think the franchise really started to jump the shark until RE6. Complete dumpster fire of a game.

  6. What if the remake has a single player game mode like re2. One scenario with Chris and one with Sheva. That way you can flesh out both characters whilst not having to rely on stupid AI. Then you would have the coop game mode like in the original as a novelty. To me resident evil has always been a singleplayer experience and I prefer it that way. No offense if you want the coop tho. I played it on splitscreen on Xbox 360 with my old friend. Good times but kinda forgettable tbh.

  7. When they get to remaking 5, I hope they add Lost in Nightmares as the opening, improve the antagonist so we're just not chasing after them, perfect Uroboros enemy types(we hear how this is the next step in evolution but never fight against enemies who are) & maybe make the Jill/Wesker reveal not so obvious for new players.

  8. Idk about disappointment lol I think RE5 is superior to the fan favorite RE4 by a pretty wide margin. Pretty much the same game just refined and with more colors than tan, brown, and grey so it doesn't put me to sleep EVERY single time I try and play it. I have five copies of RE4 on multiple platforms and I pass out or give up from boredom before the end of chapter 1 every time I try and play it, I don't even think I've ever gotten far enough to meet Ashley in game. But RE5 I've 100%-ed and beaten like 20 or 30 times solo and with friends.

  9. Having just finished the game for the first time. This is exactly the video I wanted to see, I strongly disagree with the overall assessment but I really appreciate a long content discussion on the game.

  10. You know, ive literally never played this game without co-op. When it first came out, me and my bestie would spend Friday nights after work, with a cheap pizza, and mikes hard lemonade, and just blasting through 5 over and over.
    Or Mercs mode. Simpler times.

  11. These are some hard L takes man. I started playing the franchise from 5, then went back to play RE1 classic, and am currently on RE2 classic, and plan to go all the way through the rest. I get why classic horn dogs bemoan what happened to the franchise, as they are fundamentally different games, but from what I've seen so far RE1, 2 and 5 are great games in their own fields. RE1 is a good dementia test, RE2 is also a good dementia test but with 10 x the enemies and ammo, and RE5 is a decent reaction test and/or power fantasy depending on your weapon unlocks. In all cases, they are fun and I do not regret playing any of them.

Also, stop with the Gman style delivery. Your voice is fine as it is, but the way you talk makes me think you're going to say "Mr. Freeman" at any given moment.

EDIT: I also don't get the hate for the Sheva a.i that everyone dog piles. I think people are just bad at managing her, i was actually pleasantly surprised by her performance, and I went from easy through to normal, veteran and pro difficulties.

  12. Gonna have to disagree, 5 is some genuine peak (I'm nostalgia blind but unashamedly so)

Nah I just think it's fun, some of the most fun I've ever had in games just playing this, (with and without co-op) the melee moves don't get old for me and I love how stupid the story is and how it's presented, as much as I like the other styles as well, big dumb action movie RE is my RE lmao

I guess yeah, 6 is that but with better gameplay, but I don't know, something about 5 hits different for me. Maybe the gross yellow filter over it has rotten my brain over the years lol

Great video! I really like discussion and analysis of these games (Even if I disagree), plus, any video with chapters/timestamps is automatically super cool.

  13. It’s my favorite in the series. I’m not sure if I’d say it’s the best. That’s a different discussion. But RE5 is underrated and gets a lot of hate despite being the most sold RE game.

It’s a great game. I think a lot of people that hate on it didn’t play the game in 2009 at release. Its filled with horror. The enemies are very disturbing. And the game manages to stay with such a dark tone even during the action sequences. I hope they keep the same tone with the remake w/ the updated graphics and gameplay. It will be sick y’all

  14. 5 was perfectly fine and very fun to play and replay. 6 is the shit fest people should be complaining about. This is already a tired ass video just hoping for some pity clicks. Come up with some real non recycled content instead of kicking the same game the whole re community does

  15. I mean……..I’d like to think the dark age of resident started with 6 but hey……..what do I know, especially since 5 was pretty well received, unlike RE6.

  16. 25:00 IS WRONG.
The controls in 5 where the first actually using modern 3rd person shooter type of controls. I know from actually playing re4 on emulator for gamecube, they had you aim with the same stick for movement and shoot with a facebutton,

  17. If you didn't like RE5, you're sure as hell not gonna like 6 lol.

That said, I've always enjoyed the co-op mode in this game. Certainly a step down from RE4 overall though. Will be very interesting what the eventual remake will look like.

  18. Honestly shit review. Blatantly wrong statements not even 1/3 the way through it and just a desire to make the thing look bad. When will game journalists stop pretending that they like games.

  19. Man I prefer Wesker as a shady dude who was out for himself over this version, though I love DC's portrayal of him. He hams it up nicely. Every time I consider replaying this game I remember how long it is and how many segments I don't like, the spinning slow moving elevator being one of my more hated segments, and I just can't do it. Shame as there are some story elements I like. If they do remake this game I hope it's done better. Also I feel the Chris and Jill dynamic was always just told to us rather than showed. We never really see them together and they act like, from the start, they're really close. But we don't see them interact. Even at the end of RE1 they don't talk in the helicopter. It would have been nice to get some context. Hot take but Jill had much better chemistry with Carlos, both versions than she ever did Chris. Great review as always.

  20. when it came out i was at some persons house who had it on 360 and said i could play it so I played it the whole night and got to the crap thing boss in that chamber that crawls on the walls and he woke up and was like wtf ur farther than me and turned it off.

  21. RE5 isnt perfect, hell… It didn't live up to the quality of RE4. However it's far from a bad game. It broke sales records at the time and to this day is still one of the best co-op games ever made. And im just sick of the stupid boulder meme ok… Its just old. Its a badass alpha male scene rule of cool. Especially now a days in such a man hating anything remotely masculine being called "toxic" society.

Jill's 120 lb frame picking up a 3 ton Rail gun and firing it while the floor beneath her shatters but her legs don't is far more ridiculous and stupid.

I understand why some fans, especially die hards didnt like RE5 but it's still a great game. You dont gotta like it but it's true.
