Hi Paul, I am curious at what point do you need to be worried about your SSD failing. I have one that Crystal Disk Info reports it is 66% Good. Yes I do have a backup. Thanks Troy from the OC

Actually, most scammers will quote you a small shipping fee, but then use your card information to buy things, mostly nonrefundable items, until you cancel your card. You’d be lucky if they only hit you for the shipping fee.
I will be holding out for Intel's 32 core 48 thread 16 P cores threaded, 16 E cores… with huge cache level 1,2, and 3 on board chip.. making the chip have to run to the memory on the MB less often.. and then Nvidia, since you are now making cards 3 and 4 slots and so heavy and so power hungry.. lets make it a full four slot card with dual PCIE connection like one would have with two cards in SLI.. so you double the bus lanes and put two nvidia graphics chips on the card with double memory..
intel has stagnated. I trust AMD

I have a pc I built back in 2017-18 and I’m wanting to upgrade soon. With new hardware releases happening either in Q3 or Q4. Do you think it makes sense to do a whole new build or upgrade the major hardware to get by?
(Currently running an i7-7700k, 32GB RAM @ 3200, and 1070 on a 1080p monitor)
Hey Paul so I’m upgrading my CPU and Motherboardfor the first time. Going from a Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X and i5 9600k to a ASUS TUF Z690-Plus WiFi D4 and an i9 12900k, re-using all of my older parts as they’re all compatible. Is re-building the pc with all of the new hardware, booting up and then doing a system reset then activating windows with my Microsoft account followed by installing all of the new drivers and bios update a good way to go about doing this upgrade?
It does seem at least plausible that Steamdeck and the Frankstein creations people are already making with discrete GPUs will evolve into NUC-like Steamboxes, sprouting a viable OS environment for Steam to populate, securing users and winning gamers over from Microsoft, so that they can monopolise Steam software support and start sticking us with bloatware and incessant updates. Wait…

I recently upgraded to a Ryzen 5800X and I've noticed that under heavy load, temperatures reach the mid-80°s. Within spec but a little concerning still.
It's under a NZXT Kraken X41, which means a 140 mm radiator. Is it time to upgrade?

Hey Paul! I used your videos to build my 2700X/B450 Tomahawk/2070 Zotac PC in December of 2019 which got me through the Time of Plague. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade it to something like 5800X/X570/3080, 6900XT or just wait for AM5 and 4000 to build a whole new machine? Upgrade Path – CPU, GPU, MOBO and PSU and add an M2? Thoughts? Have a refreshing malted bev and ponder, please.

Probing Question (keep your pants on): Will display and GPU development continue past 600hz? I understand that is the "perfect" refresh rate to match almost every current game without scaling problems. 600 offers a perfect refresh rate downscaling math from anemic 10, 12, 15, 20, 24, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75, 100, 120, 150, 200 & 300. To scale lower refresh rates without funky scaling, or funky software upscaling trucks without issues that cause problems with the user experience. Thoughts?
Extra credit question if I'm allowed 2 probes of Paul 😁; If they achieve 600hz refresh rate would gaming studios bring in more effects to slower games knowing the GPU and monitor would have less issues scaling the footage?

Hi Paul. I just discovered your channel today while perusing for various options for my forthcoming ROG STRIX X99 Gaming board which hopefully should arrive here tomorrow. It is replacing a horrible Chinese board that I have suffered with for a bit over a year, which replaced my awesome Sabertooth X99 board that broke (Long story) (Yes I know. Older board but wanted to support my current 64GB of HyperX RAM and CPU). One thing I am interested in which I haven't seen any info on is CPU Cores Vs. Frequency. I currently have a lowly i7 5820K for it and was looking at possibly upgrading that in the next few months. In looking at available CPUs for it I noticed that they go all the way up to 14 Cores / 28 threads (Vs. my current 6 core / 12 thread). Mind you my current CPU is rated @ 3.3Ghz (Sure I will be able to get up to about 4Ghz with overclocking?). But it seems that as the number of cores goes up the frequency drops quite drastically. Also there is Cache to consider which goes up with the price of the CPU. I am not too much of a gamer but I do use my system as a high end multimedia system connected to a recent 4K TV purchase. I also have a GTX970 graphics card. So. Cores Or Frequency or Cache? What is the best or more important function for my system which pulls 4K Movies & High Res Audio (Including Multi-Channel 24Bit / 96kHz audio & up to DSD128 for music) off of my Synology NAS Thanks in advance. Sorry for rambling on.

At what point in the future will a 5800X and a 3080 not give you good frame rates on any of the games you play? Seems like a good Zen 3 system with some fast ddr4 should be able to take you pretty far.
I have a Zen3 thredripper. I've never regreted 👌🏻
