  9. The qualities Dr. Omar is talking about, he said something similar in a previous Khutbah of his (or was it the series the Firsts, my fovourite btw) it stuck with me and I’ve reflected on the Surah different ever since.

    يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِى عَلَى دِينِكَ
    “O Controller of hearts, make my heart firm in Your religion.”

  18. رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ

    Transliteration:
    Rabbi awzi’nee an ashkura ni’mata kal lateee an’amta ‘alaiya wa ‘alaa waalidaiya wa an a’mala saalihan tardaahu wa adkhilnee birahmatika fee ‘ibaadikas saaliheen
    Translation:
    “My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants.”

  23. We have so many blessings in our lives already…how are we using these to our benefit? I believe this is what each of us should focus on instead of asking Allah to give us what others have with the intention of doing better with it. May Allah accept our good intentions and allow us to use our blessings for His sake. Aameen

  25. Subhanallah. I am struggling to get career properly going but…looking back, if I started making 100k at age 22 (decade+ ago) like my classmates…wallahi I would have dived deep into haraam and destroyed myself. The person I was back then, my imaan was a thread ready to snap. Allah knows best. Salam laykum.
