‘He has to go’: Dan Tehan calls on PM to ‘sack’ Andrew Giles over detainee debacle

Shadow Immigration Minister Dan Tehan has called on Anthony Albanese to “sack” Immigration Minister Andrew Giles over the detainee debacle.

Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil has accused the Opposition of playing politics after the Albanese government failed to secure emergency removal powers for non-citizens.

The Opposition and Greens in the Senate rejected the government’s urgency with the bill and referred to laws to a parliamentary inquiry for scrutiny.

“Minister O’Neil has questions to answer on this, and I saw at the press conference as soon as a journalist raised that question that was when she said I’ve got to call this press conference off and started running for the door,” Mr Tehan told Sky News Australia.

“She needs to answer questions about that.

“With regards to Minister Giles, this is just another reason why the [Prime] Minister has to sack him.

“He has to go.”

  1. The current Federal LNP is ridiculous..

Approximately 700 times they asked the ALP " what is the ALP doing in relation the dangerous immigrants on the streets of Australia..?

This week they voted to stop the ALP from doing exactly what the LNP demanded last week…

This is your money Australia and voters have grown weary of Peter Pinocchio and the dreggs riding the taxpayer funded gravy train for no return but..
No No No No No No No No..

Dan Tehan has to go asap, most Australians couldn't afford the suit he wears and it's comical knowing its the taxpayers who paid for it ….

  2. All these incompetent ministers…….. they're just following Albanese's lead. Tell Albo to visit Alice Springs – hopefully, they'll all go with him………………..IN MY OPINION.

  3. When common sense flies out the window, stupidity governs supreme.
Political liars/charlatans will say whatever they can to secure your vote, and once they have won, they do n9t care what promises were made because the fact is, once a political charlatan gets to the top seat, the charlatan knows you can't do diddly squat about anything the charlatans does or doesn't do.
Now ask yourself…. what is your vote truly worth, and why do you continue to vote? Nobody was ever frowned upon for being honest.

  4. Typical Labor. Rush a legislation through knowing full well it’s impossible to review properly then flip it around shouting ‘the Libs don’t support this’. Forget Giles and O’Neil. Put a line through the whole party of incompetent liars!
