Putin is many things, but he's not stupid. Attacking the West in a conventional war is out of the question for Russia, even if all Russian allies came with them. They would've lost easily.
Attacking the West with nukes is also out of the question, since that would mean the end of Russian within a few hours.
War through crying on social media, hacking and subversion is still going, so in that sense, we're already at war with Russia.

Why the tantrum on the british missiles? It is common knowledge that Ukr, by now, fights mostly with western hardware. The country is saturated with the things either directly or via 3rd parties. Men is what they are lacking.
Also, the Ukr war has completely rewritten military tactics. Good ol' honest to God man to man (or woman) skirmishes do happen but the decisive theatre is predominantly played by drones and EW.
