  1. Day 63 of requesting Age of Mythology
In honor of the stupid gun of extreme technical potential, today's recommendation is actually a short story. Cleaning Up by Ian Banks is about mysterious alien technology showing up on earth during the Cold War, and how humanity uses it to build super-weapons. Turns out it's all junk from a malfunctioning garbage disposal, and humans actually build a hovertank out of an old mattress from the alien equivalent of a brothel.

  2. What I love about this mod is the sandbox feel to it.

Sure, the main game has it, especially with the settlement building which over 3 and a bit playthroughs probably took half of my playtime, but adding in the new factions and all these side stories just makes the Commonwealth feel so much more alive.

  3. That medical mystery was rather gripping. It had me hooked from the very start, maybe it's because it's not something commonly seen in Fallout games, at least Fallout 4 so it provided a nice change of pace.

  4. Gosh darn it! Cassandra didn’t have to leave! They just needed to stop having every doctor take charge with the same patient! How will they make a hospital if they’re only allowed to have exactly one doctor?

  5. The Never Ending Lorenzo's Gamma Gun can be stronger/ridiculous-er in a way. Make it auto with the repeater mod and it just fires a wibbly wobbly stream of physics when you hold down the fire button.

  6. 4:00 Lorenzo's Gun isn't doing more damage because of the explosions, it's because the Lorenzo's Artifact gun mod allows the radiation damage to bypass Radiation Immunity. And since creatures with Radiation Immunity have a Radiation Resistance of 0, they take full damage from it.

  7. Oh, that's cool that the mod creators have been chatting with you and letting you know "hey, hold off on this particular mission, we've got New Content coming." 😀 Seems like they want to make sure you put the mod's best foot forward! And this was a pretty interesting episode — I like all the nuance here, especially with the guy's death being arguably EVERYBODY'S and yet nobody's fault because, as you say, a real lack of communication. Maybe having Cassandra strike out on her own will encourage them to talk more in the smaller team, maybe not. We'll find out.

Also the Never-Ending Artifact Gun is amazing and I never want you to stop using it. XD Makes me eager to get to the Cabot stuff in my own playthrough!

  8. Historically, soap was made from plant or animal oils boiled for long periods of time while wood or plant ash (containing potassium salts that provided a chemical base) was stirred into the mixture. The big ol' flame cauldron in the soap shop has probably got the fatty remains of some wasteland vermin in it, or maybe just some old bottles of cooking oil.

  9. Again, if you stumble across certain apparel that gives attribute bonuses, especially strength, perception, endurance, charisma, intelligence, and agility, take them along. The +2 versions are the best for this. Strength is for industry, perception for water production and sanitation, intelligence for power generation, agility for any martial/guards, and finally charisma for your commerical shopkeers.
Luck is the only one that currently has no big use for settlers. You might however consider them for your caravan buildings as soon you will be able to send them out to go scavenging for you. With luck your scavengers have a better chance of finding special plot plans that you can't get any other way.
But don't stop with just one.
Equip them on a settler in the right job to seriously increase their output. After that take a picture of them and bring that to Dillan so he can produce it for you.
From then on you can buy that item multiple times to slowly equip all your settlers with awesome legendary stat booster apparel. The outcome is absolutely staggering.

Especially as you will need some really high stat settlers for your future HQ.
Trust me, you don't want to miss out on them.

  10. You can't really call what Ellis did an "accident from lack of communication". Fiona, as the doctor heading the procedure, knew the proposed cure was dangerous even if she didn't know it was deadly from the tracer. Ellis went behind Fiona's back to treat the patient, (doing it through Raphael) knowing he wasn't supposed to do it and also knowing Fiona had prepped the patient even if he didn't know exactly how, so it's presumptuous to say Fiona didn't record her injections when Ellis went in immediately after her.

I don't like Fiona, but I think it's insane to put the blame on anyone but Ellis (and Raphael who didn't care either way) when the patient died because Ellis went behind the doctor heading the procedure's back to perform his own treatment, especially since Ellis knew death from his treatment was a possibility.

  11. Thanks for the update at the end, this series has been progressing so slow it's been frustrating. I have the mod and have been waiting for you to catch-up and fight the gunners at the plaza.

  12. Add another tally to the "Jon is surprised by something that has happened in literally every Fallout 4 playthrough he's done" counter with the first 2 raiders in BADTFL being marked in green.

  13. I like Cassandra a lot, but the fact that they made her well versed on pre war medicine means I can school her on some specifics.
Vaccines are specifically a treatment for viruses that trains the immune system to recognize a specific virus or group of viruses. What she made (unless the flora she used were infected with a disease related to rabies) was just a treatment.
Also, a vaccine wouldn’t help someone who is already dying from the disease. It would actually weaken their immune system a bit. Vaccines are most effective when used in healthy individuals.

  14. 10:17 Oooo… See, pre-war was kinda lacking on the whole independent judiciary thing. Judges were mostly just there to put a rubber stamp on government death warrants for people suspected of being reds.

  15. Yo, Jon, not sure if this is the best place to leave a recommendation, but uh. You hear of this visual novel that came out late last year; "I Wani Hug That Gator"? Its deceptily deep and nuanced. The story and characters are well written. And the game has multiple endings bases on you're choices that range from fullfillingly wholesome to gut-wrenchingly tragic. Its not afraid to let you suffer the consequences of your actions and inactions.

Just finished playing it about two days ago and it absolutely floored me. Made me take a long hard look in the mirror and face alot of feelings I thought I'd buried and and gonna see about working through with my therapist. Seems like the sorta thing you'd love and I'd enjoy watching you play through as much as you can bare.

Also, sorry again Claire for that New Vegas livestream. I wasn't thinking before I typed.
