  1. I love the howling banshees models so I play them pretty much every game. One way I play them is ten in a wave serpent with jain zar for crazy anti-infantry dmg or I have them be kind of a reactive unit near an objective and threaten units that try to take it and/or screen. I do think though troupe with a troupe master does more dmg but I just can't help but play the banshees. Beautiful models.

  2. Banshees alone : 85 pts to hunt a lone operative or scouts. Banshees with Jain Zar : 190 pts to DESTROY between 5 and 10 MEQ.
Never get a full squad because it will attract too much attention.

You can put the guys in a falcon OR get Eldrad to spike more damages.

  3. Out of a wave serpent that hid in mid board turn 1, on turn 2, and with 1cp or a fate dice, they can move 17", then charge with another fate dice giving at least a 7" minimum charge. Threat range is huge. And they can shoot whilst doing all that to soften other infantry up. Great running 10 + Jain

  4. Such a shame that almost every single aspect with new sculpts ranges from middling to bad, including their Phoenix Lords.

Banshees and Jain Zar never see play. I think there's a use case for them, but it's kind of matchup dependent. I've had them do wonders against Slaaneshi Daemons, but against marines they just don't get to really do enough I feel. Karandras and the Striking Scorpions do their job better imo.

Shining Spears. Not even sure where to start with these. Bikes are clunky, melee bikes are even clunkier. Just play the cheaper Shroud Runners or Windriders.

Dark Reapers (Yes, I know Proxy, you love these xD). 80 points for a fairly static gunline unit that shoots okayish and does ONLY that? I'm sorry, but I'm swapping them out for Shroud Runners every time. Those are faster, tougher, have more wounds, do similar damage to most things with their lethals and weight of fire, are fantastic action monkeys with their assault pistols, and actually support the rest of the army. And to top it off they have a Phoenix Lord who is outclassed by a no-name murder clown in everything he does as well xD

Love all these new sculpts, but they really need better rules to be played over our stuff that's sometimes 30+ years old.

  5. Banshees are a tech piece that will be better depending how the meta shakes out. We are already seeing way more bodies on the board than early 10th, and way less vehicle density, and Eldar will have to shift woth the times and balance changes. bandhees get way better the more anti-infantry we have to deal with, and fights last means they're AMAZING in long slog ongoing combat scenarios because it either forces the opponent to throw more into them positionally, or sacrifice the unit.

  6. i think the banshees suffers from the same issue as most aspect warriors… 1 or 2 points too costy for what they do ( maybe more for the scorpions… S4 and no AP seriously ? -_- ) for 75 the 5 banshees would be great.

The main thing with them is that people used to think of them as hammer ( because of how broken they were in 9th ), they never were meant for that ( not without support ! go try to kill a marine squad in 4th without doom ! especially if you didn't managed, somehow, to charge with you " terrifying " 2 attacks S3…) they are meant to be annoying fast screaming things that finish already damaged units or hunts already fragile units ( like most things with T3 ).

People are like " oh they can't annihilates crasy tanky melee units, they sucks ! "… you have things like fire dragon for them ! but go hunts things like drukhari, sister, even one wound league of votan or anything with one wound like most necrons units, of course you can't expect 85 points of screaming fast thing to bloody murder everything but for exemple against incubi ? even 5 banshee with miror swords on the exarch can murder on average 6.67 incubi even before those guys have the time to reach for their weapons…

Banshees may not often have the last word but most of the time they'll have the first ! forcing the ennemy to either shoot at them ( and therefore don't shoot to anything else that could do more damage ) or charge them knowing he will take some damage no matter what ( except if you thought it was a good idea to " block " a 10 nobs unit with 5 banshees… ^^ )

  7. Ive had a lot of success using them to missile into small action monkey units that are out of sight. Nurglings, cultists, 5-man kabalites, scouts. They can launch into those units who would normally be in cover out of sight because of the advance and charge.

  8. I've tried, oh man how I tried to get ANY type of use out of Banshees and they've just been a disappointment. They just don't do anything and are expensive at doing nothing. I've had 10 banshees consistently fail to kill 5 MEQ and a couple of occasions even scouts, they're a poor choice for a screen as any unit can do it cheaper (looking at you rangers). We have a plethora of units that are faster, more defensive and hit so much harder but what irks me the most isn't the fact that we have better options for anything banshees do but that banshees are terrible at everything! I wouldn't even touch a unit of banshees if they were 60 points let alone 85! They just don't have a role I need to fill in my army lists.

If they could reach out and kill those fragile (non marine) infiltrators/ objective holders then they might have some edge case uses but a lot of the time they just bounce and heavens forbid they get into combat with nurglings, they'll just wipe you out! Unfortunately the same is also true when you bring Jain Zar, every instance when I bring her and the banshees into anything tougher than a guardsman they've failed to do anything and I lament not just taking Ynnari and running Lelith with Wyches instead.

I appreciate that my comment is a bit of a downer but I've desperately tried to like them and use them in 10th but even in casual games they've just not been fun to use and they've just been laughed off the table.
