Sky News host Sharri Markson discusses the revelations surrounding security chiefs and how they are now required to be “invited in” to the National Security Committee of Cabinet on a case-by-case basis.
“This story, to the revelations the security chiefs are no longer permanent members of the National Security Committee of Cabinet,” she said.
“They have to be invited in on a case-by-case basis.”
Ms Markson discussed the “role” of the Albanese government when it comes to the political and national security approach to China.
The Albanese Government removed the head of ASIO and ASIS from its National Security Committee of Cabinet in a move that reflects the diminishing role of the intelligence chiefs under Labor.
Under the Coalition government, the head of ASIO and ASIS were permanent members of the National Security Committee of Cabinet – which makes decisions on the highest risk and most urgent national security matters.
