Russia's plane technology was shit all throughout the Cold War, but after the Vietnam war ended they got a captured F-5 and realized just how primitive primitive Russian technology and design was in comparison. The capture of the F-5 paved the way for the development of the Mig-29, Su-27, and most of Russia's other decent aircraft, most of which took lots of design cues form the captured F-5. When they put the F-5 against their Mig-21s and Mig-23s they couldn't ever keep up with the F-5, which was a cheap export aircraft. Even with their best pilots they couldn't beat the F-5, and this is where Soviet tech really turned around, however the introduction of the F-14 and F-15 means they were still far behind.
For me, fishing is for food. Which makes not catching anything (or only tiny sunnies) extremely annoying.
Edit: Also, McCarthy went way to far in the wrong directions. It's like getting through TSA at an airport after 9/11. Yeah, there was a real threat, but "randomly" selecting passengers for cavity searches wasn't the answer. My dad lived through McCarthyism. It was a bad joke that was threatening to turn America into a police state protecting 'freedom to agree with me.'
There was a big stink recently in the fishing scene. Couple guys were caught weighting the fishes down. Tens of thousands of dollars of prizes were seized from them.
My dad was part of Linebacker 2. He was a crew chief on 52s and some pilots wouldn't fly if the crew chief wouldn't fly – they thought the chief didn't trust his work. So he ended up flying on them. It's also why I am under orders to buy the booze for PJs – he had buddies shot down and the only reason they got out was because of the PJs.
