Who’s to be believed, who can even be trusted? That’s the real question about how the internet works vs how information is consumed and shared. Already @Josh Strife Hayes admits he was wrong about the Client Side Authoritative remarks and it has since been patched, so let’s talk about why I am the way I am.

I tend to somewhat agree that the game has a bit of an identity crisis at end game. Yes it is both a PVP and PVE game but the only way to gear up is fairly boring PVE mechanics. Even the 520-535 faction gear is acquired via avoiding PVP.
Edit: I already stopped playing as much before the last patch finally added Outpost Rush. Is this perhaps solving this issue? Feel free to chime in anyone.
The war exploits broke up my company just before they got fixed so I haven't cared as much to log in but if outpost rush is fun and doing a decent job for gearing up maybe I'll go solo que some of that.
The games fun, that’s all that really matters 🙂
The fact that they are a new IP, should have made them work harder to ensure the game was not so buggy at launch. I understand all MMOs have bugs at launch, but with this game all I have seen is bug, after bug, after bug. I understand people want this game to succeed, but there comes a time when you have to call a spade a spade. I want this game to succeed, because competition is always good for innovation, but it looks like they are not even trying.
It doesn't change the fact that the game is boring and I still don't want to play anymore.
"Every week there is a new bug or exploit"
Ginger Prime: That is the same for every MMORPG.
Um, actually it's not.
In cases like this, it's better to be safe than sorry.
Seen a few videos and impressed by your level headed approach to things. Subscribed!
Thanks for the update. I love the ending to this video!
Ah, vindication. I got flamed by the rabid gamerz on that Josh video by pointing out that they don't actually know shit and they need to calm the fuck down.
Software is not so simple that you can start shouting that it's Client Side Authoritative by wiggling a window around.
It was irresponsible as all hell for Josh to make that claim on basically no evidence with no experience. I'm actually really disappointed in him.
Isn't the issue that most people have with New World being EXACTLY the content though? I mean, if you take the logic that there is such a thing as good game armor (which I do agree with, mostly), I was under the impression that outside of bugs, a lot of people have issues with the high level package of New World.
Also, while I agree there is this idea of people coming back for content, there is a counter-balance of there being first impressions and how those first impressions can set up future content through money flow or player trust/excitement going in. PSO2:NGS is going through this exact issue now, in that even with the new content patches, people aren't really coming back to the game easily because the launch was both so rocky AND people don't have a good impression of what would be exciting content in the context of that game. I don't know if New World has gotten up to that point, but it's certainly something to consider. Certainly, there are nomad players who come back for big content patches, but there are also a lot of people who are like "I didn't like this game on first launch, so why would that change with new content?" (For that matter, FFXIV suffered that issue for a long time before the newer expansions, with how the ARR pre-MSQ shaving was, etc.).
This is the risk of trying to stay on the forefront of "hot" news while speaking with an authoritative point of view when delivering those topics to a large and loyal audience.
i feel like the questioning aspect (i sometimes do stuff like that myself) is what helps me just feel… alot less cynical then i could have been?
It was me. I couldn't play last week because I was on vacation, but now that I'm back on it, NW numbers are going back up 😀
11:54 come on… thats a super bad argument.
Would any streamer ever admit to using an exploit on air streaming or you tube, bug or not, if even just to prove something as a point to the dev team?
This game is a flop, it will die out slowly but the long term formula isn’t there. The funny part is that this game woulda had way better results on console. Since semi-casual MMO players and the basic repetitive battle system would feel better on a controller.
As a gameing of it's self, New World is a good concept for an mmo. Especially as an upstart. All mmo have all kinds of problems. Currently games that have been ongoing for years have problems. The reason Everquest, EQ2 WoW are still going is because they all release major content year after year.
Can't believe Bobby Kotick took a pay cut so he could pay off Youtube commentors to hate on New World 🙂
Great video. You're spot on with the idea of discourse, this isn't you vs me, or us vs them, its all of us as gamers wanting better gaming experiences.
As usual, a stand up guy Brian, though I don't think I'm going back to NW any time soon but I'll see you may be back in FFXIV and you're right, where things sit compared to the real world, it's no big deal. Really good point there sir. But are you sure the sky really isnt falling I'm going to keep my tinfoil hat just in case lol. And thinking about another knee jerk comment I made elsewhere, I might need a glass of metamucil after all 🙁
We are playing an early access build.
Good video. Glad you didn't go in a negative tone when saying Josh was wrong. As for everyone is a nomad. Nomads constantly change homes and travel. That might be true or not for the masses. But I am more of a every once in a long while trip to other game worlds and stay there a bit.
But I spend most of my time in Vanadiel. The deepest mmoRPG of all time.
Great video! Accessible content is king
Video says it's about JSH.
Video actually about me
He mispronounces my username
In all seriousness, the patch came faster than expected, and supposedly it is not client side authoritive. That's good. But my point about exploits and burnout still stand. Plently of people get burnt out of games. Ff14's burnout point is near the end of ARR and the first half of ARR patch series( which needs to be addressed more.) But not every game has an identfiable burnout point and just because some other games do doesn't excuse the games failures in that respect.
I'm not a big fan of the argument that none of the issues with NW are a big deal because "people die in real life". C'mon man, that's a cop out. You can apply that to literally everything. We aren't talking about the subject of real world death, we are talking about paying customers of a video game. And in THAT context, these issues are not " no big deal"
Was he wrong? Like Josh admits he was wrong, but I'm not so sure. Like it makes no sense at all that moving your client prevents damage.
I trust the FF14 devs, but AGS really dropped the ball with the whole region transfer debacle. From personal experience, NW is a lot more buggy than most other MMORPG launches I've experienced / read up on.
For me, it will take a lot of work from AGS side to get on my good side, but I do think that they are on the right path. It just remains to be seen if they will follow through all the way.
I'm an old MMO veteran just like you @Ginger Prime but I have never had an MMO get me into the "mid game" with current content and then after that I quit because of reason XYZ. Quitting between level 30-50 is a big deal IMO. Maybe I'm just not as casual as others, or maybe I'm turning into a casual. Who knows. I regret my New World purchase currently. Hopefully I won't in a year or two after it stabilizes.
So the argument I'm seeing is All MMOs have bugs , which is true, but not all bugs are equal. Trying to treat "bugs" as this shapeless concept without specificity complete ignores the point, it's the type and severity of said bugs that matter, not just the fact that there ARE bugs.
Calories in cals out is the BEST DIET keto and meat only are TRASH diets and ill fight you if you dissagree CMON REPLY TO ME RIGHT NOW!! /s
Keep doing you.
But he made a follow up video saying that the exploit is NOT fixed in PvE. You can do the same trick in PvE where you pause it by grabbing the window in the middle of an i-frame and the player will not take damage.
I respect the people that love this game, but this sort of thing is indefensible. A lot of aspects of this game are broken and I can't believe the released it in the state its in. The base issue with the game is the coding and economies. The coding is bad that some GPUs are susceptible to literally burn. As for economies, how does a game have an issue of deflation?? I don't know, this game should really have been delayed and/or they should have listened to their QA staff more. This is another example of AAA games releasing unfinished/unpolished/with game-breaking bugs/issues. I really hope New World players aren't ok with this. Nobody should be.
The bar for what is considered an issue is set pretty high…. Good video tho. ty
Why tf is ff music playing?
Tbh the argument concerning your friend's child doesn't sit right with me. The same logic could be applied the other way – hundreds of thousands of kids die every year as a result of war, or famine, or curable or immunisable disease, so why was your friend's kid a major issue? It's just a weird disregard of scope – something could be described a major issue in terms of a game or a movie without having to take away with things that happen elsewhere.
New world already lost 70% of there player base don't need more negative saying that the game is trash and the devs can't do there job ….however I do appreciate Josh acknowledgment of the matter
Can someone please explain what happening in plan English? Josh's video was in a form of plan English I could understand. Amazon's response was at a technical level beyond my understanding. Why does suspending the client seem to pause inputs and enter a perpetual dodge-roll state if it's not caused by the client interruption? Amazon explained it but it's way above my head.
