‘Game Changer’: Anthony Albanese announces fleet of electric trucks

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced that one-third of the heavy vehicles operating out of Team Global Express’ Western Sydney facility will be electric.

Mr Albanese described this as a “great day” and a “game changer”.

“That’s good for this company because it drives down emissions, it drives down their costs,” Mr Albanese said during a media conference on Thursday.

“Good for the environment in reducing our emissions.

“We know that around about over 20 per cent of Australia’s emissions are due to the transport sector.

“This transformation together with, of course, the partnership with ARENA, and the parentship with Volvo, is a great example of my government working with the private sector, with the business community to assist the economy, to assist them but also to assist our objective of heading towards net zero.”

  1. With COVID, the Australian people were on the same page, nobody wanted to get infected with COVID, the government and MSM way overcooked for all it's worth and loved every minute of it even Palaszczuk was laughing and bragging in Parliament about how taking off her musk would get her heaps of views on social media and the opposition was jealous, it just ended up being a power grab and an ego trip by vile and corrupt politicians and the people woke up and will never look at the government the same way ever again, the Australian people are not on the same page with electric vehicles.
How is charging up a truck with coal power lowering emissions? Why should emissions be lowered? what nation will build these trucks? what nation will the batteries be sourced from? How much dough are taxpayers putting in to it? If Chinese made will data go back to China like with konnech electoral software? How much more exponential pressure will these electric trucks put on the grid?
The thing about Labor all they do is bullshit from Bob Hawk promising no child will live in poverty in 30 years to Steve Miles promising every homeless person is guaranteed accommodation days away from a byelection in a state election cycle.
The same thing is happening in LA they give hotel accommodation to the homeless, this has not stopped homelessness, what it does do is drive up insurance rates for hotels.

  4. Oh how laughable. These things are not being pursued in Europe and US as they have been found to be unreliable and unable to haul loads. Charging times are far more than cars…It s a joke. And the best people to sell such a joke is of ousre our mates, dumb and dumber!

  5. My husband has one electric truck at his workshop and they park it as far away from workshop as they can to reduce risk of fire and it has an internal thermal fan that runs for 4 hrs trying to cool down the battery after it comes back before they work on it. They also had to install an extra high pressure fire hydrant in accordance with the NSW fire code. Sounds very efficient and cost savings to me.

  6. Albanese is right, it most certainly is a "game changer". Never before has the Federal Government (meaning taxpayers) gifted a private profit making company 60 trucks at an average cost of $335,000 per truck to operate for an 18 month 'trial'.
It's painfully clear who is bearing all the risk from this bit of pointless woke virtue signaling.
