Rating Scheme:
S: gamebreakingly strong in most situations or never pass
A: gamebreakingly strong in some situations, very strong otherwise or cannot be passed sometimes
B: very strong in some situations, strong otherwise or avoid passing
C: strong in some situations, mediocre otherwise or avoid passing in some situations
D: mediocre in some situations, weak otherwise
F: complete garbage

  1. agree with the ratings for the most part. I think pets could be a bit higher if you're considering games with more than 2 players. Even in most high ELO matches, players use surplus MC to put a few cities down late game. No matter when pets is being played, I never see it with less than 2p and most of the time it's 4+

  2. In my old playgroup, where we regularly did 4+ player games with a lot of ground play, Pets was an all-star. We had a running joke that landing a golden resource cube on the card was the legendary "Golden Retriever". In 1v1 it's pretty meh, though it does stand out for being the easiest animal tag to play in the game.

  5. Pets is definitely an A card. All the combo potential you already mentioned + the pets cannot get stolen. When I play it (and I have like 500 games with 1850 elo) I score at least 4points with it.

  6. The problem with pets when compared with Immigrant City, Rover Construction and Arctic Algae is that you have to play it as early as possible, but it still only provide something that you don't want early (points), while the others provide economy so to me C tier is right. Would be D if it weren't for the tags, since earth is good and there are basically few playable early animal tags.
