I mean they don’t need to do much all they need to do is make them able to run and that would change up awhole lot with so little having to watch out for runners would be terrifying more then having to put waddle one
In my opinion they decided to "re-add" variants more as a throwback to the first seasons than anything
Ps. Tbh I liked Tales of The Walking Dead.
Call me old fashioned but I wished variants would've stayed out of TWD. They were never in the comics and Rick Kirkman were even said they aren't something he would add. I get it's tv though and they skewed and added from the comics too
Roamers made the show a lot more interesting and enjoyable, losing them was such a loss in the later seasons.
Anything after S4 just got boring to me because the walkers were so bland.
I remember in the 2nd episode seeing a walker using a brick to try n break through glass. I still don’t understand why. You don’t rlly see it throughout the rest of the show.
Just stumbled across this vid, loved it! But I always expected Walkers would 'evolve' or 'adapt' as time went on. The Virus attempting to now reach survivors who have gotten use to avoiding the standard zombies. So, the virus probably did some adaptations to allow the bodies to handle things that they normally wouldn't. And that the virus is using the man-made adaptations to the infected as a way to enhance themselves. It's not intelligent, but it's doing it because "My food up there. I want that food. Oh hey, dumb hooman gave me advantage. Must use it. Climb." I'd love to see more variants come out. The variants make them more dangerous and more believable as to how they spread out even further. I mean, a standard walker isn't that big of a threat. But then having a Walker that emits gas to infect survivors, explodes to infect/slow survivors (I don't think we've seen those kinds YET. But it's possible. I think. Then again I dropped off at around S8 of the Walking Dead and wanna get back into it. Watched City of The Dead and a portion of Daryl's first season.), Climbers to climb over obstacles put up by survivors was a good thing to show off, then having the S1 zombies being freshly turned zombies that can recall memories and the like would be a good reason to how the roamers operate. As time goes on, they end up turning into your standard walkers. Much like the Harran Virus from Dying Light 2. Upon first returning, as long as your body was in general good shape and not torn to pieces, you'd be able to sprint and climb for a certain amount of time before becoming a walking zombie. The Acid blood zombies DEFINITELY has my attention as an interesting zombie to deal with. Makes it more dangerous to be around and is even more deadlier upon grabbing you or trying to kill them within extreme close proximity to yourself (much like a xeno. you don't dare kill it when you're right next to it for fear of the blood burning you. Granted I think the Acid zombies in Walking Dead aren't nearly as dangerous as Xeno's are in regards to how acidic their blood is. We don't see their blood boiling through metal and plating of a ship.). But, in seriousness, I never fully understood how Humanity fell in Walking Dead. Yes we're all infected, yes all dead bodies come back to attack. But they're slow. We'd definitely lose cities to the infected, but eventually would probably overcome the infection and start living with it like we do with the flu. It'd mean drastic change to how we live as a society but we'd eventually overcome it. Now with something like the T-Virus or G-Virus I could understand world wide outbreak as those virus' mutate infected to be better killers. If the Wildfire Virus ends up mutating the infected in a way that maybe the T-Virus could it could be seen as a much more dangerous virus. But if these variants were already out and about during the outbreak and downfall of society, I could see that being more likely than your standard Walker's rising up and biting. But all in all, a good video!

Right out the gate, “roamers” are just straight up regular walkers but their brain hasn’t rotted so much so they retain parts of the usual hardwired routine, like Morgan’s wife and the house, all walkers are smartest the second they start to stand up and deteriorate afterwards, it makes sense why freshly turned people with plenty of fuel would retain basic routine instincts, there’s a reason the heavily deteriorated don’t do much and the fresh ones are scarier

Idk if you can call it a variant but there was the super strong walker in FTWD who pulled a soldier through a hole in the wall. Maybe it was bench pressing for months until it was disturbed.

I'm starting to like that walkers are having animalistic personalities. How the hordes travel together to certain areas like a migration (mentioned in the ones who live) and how they basically have an "alpha" that leads them to food.
