I hate that they made Kiyoshi look so badass and then made Roku look like a cheap imitation. Roku's character plays a bigger role that Kiyoshi.
God that "But we're the 41st!?" line was so awful lmao, thank you show for pointing out the obvious
"how did she find him so quickly". She found him quicker in the animated show because of her beast's scent. It is the perfect tracker. It's weird cuz the earlier episodes i was on the fence with, you guys loved and the episodes i loved you guys didn't like as much. There are criticisms you guys are making that exist in the animated show that u guys seem to be forgetting about and act like it's unique to this show. I agree that Aang's character arc is way weaker in this show than in the animated show but their are other criticisms i heavily disagree with like Aang flying to the fire nation by himself because, correct me if I'm wrong, he does the same thing in the animated show. Not to save his friends i don't think, but he does fly their on his glider over the fire nation without the rest of the crew. I will reply to this comment after i look up stuff to confirm if my memory is correct.
I already commented, but i feel like everyone (including me) needs to rewatch the animated show cuz there's some scenes that are straight outta the animated show that u guys r reacting to like it wasn't in the show.

Guys, watch the animated show again. You are not remembering things accurately. Season 1 was nothing special and and you're judging this season based on the animated show as a whole rather than just season 1. I just can't respect your opinion regarding how this show compares when you clearly don't even remember the animated show the way you think you do.
Having not warched the anime, i dont really have the same connection to Aang as a character. I definatley see how his character seems to exist to being foreward the other characters, and i really enjoy it.
I enjoyed this episode more than any episode in season 1 of the animated series

Love that they tied in the comics into this series. Mother of Faces isn’t mentioned until the comic series entailing Azula’s redemption and the fate of her and Zuko’s mother.
I personally thought that everything the Live Action ATLA did with the Fire Nation as a whole is way better than the OG Animated show for Book 1. fleshing out Zuko and Iroh's relationship and adding the depth of the 41st division was genius. Overall, its a really solid adaptation but with some flaws forsure, but all they need is better dialogue and for the actors(again, aside from the Fire Nation actors, they're all good imho) to grow their chemistry and their acting chops.
I totally didn't understand the Jonathan Majors comment. Can someone clue me in? Or am I better off not knowing?

I like Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as an actor and I’ve definitely grown more comfortable with his portrayal of Iroh, but I definitely understand the criticism. I feel like Iroh’s voice is almost its own character in the animated series, and one that didn’t make the trip to live action. At the same time, I understand why he wouldn’t want to attempt the voice because the comparison would open the door for further criticism, and especially given the more serious nature of the live action adaptation, it might seem out of place
Dallas is really the perfect Zuko, he knew how to connect the Zuko of the series, he carried the show
