In this Elden Ring Expansion Checklist Guide, we’re going to be talking about how to prepare for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. We’ll be asking you the important questions such as what you want to do with your character? Do you want to create a new character? Or would you rather use an existing character when you go into the DLC?
We’ll also discuss why you might want to start New Game Plus, why you might want to start over fresh with a new character, and some of the things you should probably do before you enter the DLC area.

My strategy has been to over level my favorite builds. I know that the progression is going to be quite a bit different, but I would like to be ready.
I'm so hyped and did this checklist through try and error with my ng+ 😅 whetblades are another thing to take into consideration but for the rest I totally agree
Or you're a veteran like me who's thoroughly invested prior into the exploits of this game. Such as the exploits in the Dragonbarrow of Caelid. Which basically boosts significantly on your progression towards the DLC from a new game.
Our standard level and weapon scaling will not be counting sadly. But guess we will see how this goes when it gets closer or comes out
I believe we will leave everything behind, we will leave our flesh and start bit fresh. I feel we can get stuff back from shadow realm but can't take the current stuff. Because builds might just make such a huge dlc a piece of cake! FromSoft is going to get everyone back to same level.
How to prepare for dlc: Check hard drive space. Pay for and download DLC.
Bloodhound fang and black knife
Basically, just replay the game with a new character and store everything 😅 It doesn't take too terribly long to get through the game and let's be honest, it's an amazing game worth replying
It doesn't matter if you do new game plus because they've stated the DLC will use a new progression system.
Im currebtly collecting as many items snd materials and upgrade mats as possible on a new game and going into end game. Then i am going to take one of my previous characters and use it to explore dlc and see what all new weapons and items i can find and test them out. Then go back and work on building the other character around it.
Well, time to grind those ancient smithing stones, cuz the weapons will probably be lit. Doesn't help that I'm a collector
Didn't they confirm that you need to defeat Radagon and Morgh to enter the DLC?
What chest armor is he wearing in gameplay?
Is it possible to be overleveled for the dlc? I think i ended my playthrough around level 170.
What would be a recommended rune level?
How can I make sure I'm not overpowered, though? I've got one lvl 150 character that's beaten the game, but I fear that I might be overpowered for the DLC…
Definitely need some maidens
I have just started my first play through of elden ring
Very excited
I thought fromsoft released a patch so that you keep the smithing stone bell bearings when you NG+. I just did started NG+ on my account last week and the Twin maiden husks still have all of the smithing stone and somber smithing stones. The only thing that is lost is the NPC bell bearings.
since it was my 1st soulslike game i think im gona go with my NG+5 lvl 256 elden lord just to make sure LOL
I have a character sitting at the end of my first run. Can’t decide whether to start NG+ and roll into the DLC or start over. I don’t want to be too strong.
At lvl. 350 you can have 50-60 points in all but 1 stat , for me that was INT , solely because I prefer seals to staffs , but my point is , go in high level and start new game plus . That way you can be powerful and versatile, while still getting a decent challenge.
yeah im max lvl and i one shoot just about anything if it prox rignt so this DLC is gonna be a breeze
I want a boss rush mode
