‘Joke’: Luxury new EV fleet driven to Melbourne for ASEAN leaders

Former NSW Labor treasurer Michael Costa has criticised the Albanese government’s plans to drive new taxpayer-funded electric BMWs to Melbourne to chauffer around ASEAN leaders.

It’s believed the new COMCAR EVs based in Adelaide and Canberra will be driven to Melbourne to transport leaders and delegates around during the three-day ASEAN-Australia special summit.

“I think it’s actually a scandal,” Mr Costa told Sky News host Steve Price.

“EVs are a joke across the board.

“Countries are now walking away from their EV policy yet Australia is going to showcase a foreign-produced EV.”
