I'm back, thankfully the issue with that rebel computer virus has been sorted. Lord Vader has done his rounds on the technicians and their replacements are…sufently Motivated. Speaking of which, Lord Vader and General Veers have been making steady progress in the East Outer Rim sieges and with few casualties for Vader. This is what may have forced the Rebels to launch a full frontal assault on Ord Mantell, Take the planet close to the core and force a halt on our invasions to focus on defense. They certainly brought the tools for the job. 3 MC-80 Independence-type Star Cruisers. Rare and powerful ships, most notably as the role of flagships for the Rebels, so to see 3 of them was a shock, though it may prove just how desperate the rebels are, using their Command ships in such a way.
Unfortunately, the defenses at Ord mantell weren't enough, the planet has fallen, Unfortunately for the Rebels, we were on standby not to far off from them. Grand Admiral Starry order's were clear, no survivors, let the rebels know what happens when they march on the Core. Thrawn wisely brought a multilayered fleet to bare. He also brought Captain Avril Coran. I knew the man. A good officer but his tenuous support for the traitor Zaarin had dogged him ever since the failed coup. I could only assume his position here is too try and regain some esteem amongst high command.
When we arrived, we knew it would be a titanic battle, one from the history books. Thrawn had positioned us well, the new Dreadnought Mark IIs at the front to absorb some of the shots, VSD-IIs for disabling the Mon Calamari shields with their heavy ion cannons, a fleet tender to quickly seal up some of the holes that were going to happen and Titan wing in support. Nevertheless the rebels came at us like a pack of Nexus. Even as the shields when down and the hulls started to break, they kept charging. Soon the dreadnought line was broken and it was clear they were hoping to collide with Thrawn. The Recondite, already damaged, moved in to intercept, it fought nobly but couldn't take that kind of damage and soon broke. I knew the commander Captain Argos, from the Academy. Stout and practical, I can only hope that he made it to one of the escape pods. We may have had worse losses had not Coran taken point with his Tie droids and finally broke their vanguard. This allowed Thrawn and I to rush forward and finally blow those burning MC-80s to the next world. They'll be salvaging those hulks for a decade. Though we took losses, this battle as proven to be a great victory!
For this victory. I have been given command of a new strike group. Me and Coran are now moving to Antar to take part of a new offensive. I will take this new responsibility in stride.
