So. Long story short, elves have been discriminating since well… always Willing to wipe out a planet with disease "just because its full of abominations" e.i orc variations and mutations??
Excellent video aj👍 Also how do they interact with races like mindflayer and beholders?
The elvish bio-Mech suits and other stuff from that war you talked about would make a great video
Scro can be orange, black, or white, but GREEN IZ BEST!! WAAAAGH!!!!
Hey when the new spelljammer book comes out do think you well do a video covering all the lore changes in the book?
Sounds like my last game of Stellaris lol
Nicely done as always AJ. I just heard about the upcoming D&D movie and the trailer looks cool with many creatures you've covered on your channel. Hey AJ, does the Grim Reaper exist in D&D lore as an NPC? If so, what would its stats be? After you see the D&D movie maybe you could do a review/analysis of it. Well, until next time, keep making those saving throws buddy. 👍🏼
10 minutes and 15 seconds until I realized that Scro was orcs spelled backwards
Hooray! I requested this!
I would love videos on all these other Super Monsters created by The Elves and the Orcs!
Especially the Witchlight Marauders!
More about the ancient weapons!
There is a Tale, a Tale of a Scro that had set himself apart from his brethren in the art of war. His name was Tum. Depicted as a godike warrior whose only weakness were his testies were its said his power was held.
The other nonhumans gave him the name Scro-tum, no body knows the more private parts of his story. All we are left with are cumulative epics.
Elves, "EXTERMINATUS!"
> "…Would like to hear about War Machines & Mutant Horrors"
Yes please!
AJ is back! Finished moving? 👍🏻 Scro sound pretty awesome, a more intelligently warlike, lethal, bigger, badder, Orc.
Let's hear about the Hobgoblin version of Captain America!
Scro is Orcs backward
👍
So they have become Hobgoblins, assimilated through mating? Also sounds like the elves are on the road to become mind flayers…
With that last picture I'm just imagining an Orc biker gang with Grug's Angels on the back of their armor😂
" Sc -ro -ro – roo ."
Okay I just show myself out if I can't come up with anything better to feed the algorithm.
yes ancient war machines
This article has brought back memories of the Spelljammer novels. That series was an absolute trainwreck, but one that I found a lot of fun (with each book being totally unpredictable).
It is the series that I have read where the most noticeable is the change from one author to another in each novel.
Leather armor is an overused fantasy troop.
There are plenty of videos on youtube where they weave multi cloth layers for gambesons padded armor that once treated with render down cow milk for glue can stop arrow fire at a decent range. Depending on all the .. fluff .. you hear and seen over the years, proper made gambeson or even multi layer pig skin leather breast plate was good at stopping 90lb bow drawn arrow fire from 50ft range. More or less stating that unless you fire an arrow up into the air and have gravity do your work with little direct aiming. You had to get within 30ft or so with any hope of armor penetration. That being said.
I still work with 3.5e rules of multi classing and maxing up skill ranks form PC backgrounds and other social game play encounter. In other videos in the comment section I went through and argue CR for vermin catching to level up PC just by hunting and gathering. Then you have social .. role .. playing in court setting to level up your social skills. Try convincing a group of orc leaders through Intimidation, Bluff, and Diplomacy along with using Preform (stage acting) with Profession ( actor ) to back up your Profession( militia member/soldier which covers small group tactics and the ability to follow orders.)
You can kill five orc warband leader and get Xp for that, or you can make a bunch of multiple skill check rolls to convince them to follow you into battle.
Mini maxing multi class N/PC, starting with rogue at first level for the most skill points to build up Craft skills and Social skill. Goal to reach in PC development, ..
Rogue2/fighter2/ranger1 " feat Tracking"/then npc class Expert2 for 12 bonus skill points. CR: 6 or 8 or how you like it. Orc tough enough to get by on their own passing into adult hood for hunting and maintain their own sewing and leather gear.
As for skills, rogue2 grants 5ranks in social skills of bluff, diplomacy " orc style," intimidation, and sense motive. Total: 16pts at 1st-level and 4pts at second level.
Then you have profession( soldier) with the same points. There goes your first 24 points with only 3pts at 2nd-level to level up one of your craft or rogue skills by a single rank.
Two levels in fighter gives two feats for combat, and due to the limited skill points, you still can assign those points for an extra 3ranks or 4ranks in Intimidation or go with Profession(soldier/tactics.)
Then you have the npc class Expert giving the n/pc a +3Will save bonus along with an additional two skills a bonus of 5ranks in social or knowledge skills.
2.) Basic write up, having an 8th-level multiclass N/PC with the Leadership feat, CR:8 in single combat with BAB:+5 or CR:12 or higher controlling a warband.
Skills, Profession(soldier): +10 ranks with modifiers, Bluff 5ranks, Intimidation 10ranks (+12) with +2modifier from 5ranks in Bluff. With lucky rolls will socially get a more melee dangerous fighter to follow them. Beside the Star Wars rpg had other skill listing for Imperial officers such as profession( administer) with around 8 to 10ranks to manager star sectors of the fleet.
Skills for orcs such as Bluff and preform(acting ) helps them make the correct body language pose to put on a display of strength during Diplomacy exchanges.
b.) As for orc females, just start them off as 1st-level rogues due to all the social politicking and backstabbing women can be known for in high school, let alone in the workplace.
Most end all results for social pecking order turns into a punching/wrestling contest. So place an adult female that has a few children as a rogue3/fighter2, CR:5 threat. Feats are Improved Initiative and Unarmed Combat along with Point Blank Shot/Throw. If you fail your Bluff check against them, you go to block a high punch and only end up getting kicked in your knee or ankle stomped for an extra 2d6 dmg.
Women craft skills such as Weaving and Craft(rope) is used to created gambeson tough armor for winter wear and war supplies. Along with beer brewing.
Look at a Viking era fishing village, how much goat/sheep hair was needed to create a boat sail ? .. A lot ?!
c.) Over the years D&D started with and went from, Canan the Barbarian, Lord of the Rings, AD&D where players gate keep and whined that orcs/hobgoblins can't have PC levels, and now high fantasy of Harry Potter. This is Medieval .. European .. fantasy, you don't get to PC a character with Sunglasses or any type of Eye Wear !
Unless all lizardmen are part dragon, lizards/reptiles do not run around in snow cover mountains fighting dwarves or giants.
d.) Other than the lack of skill points the npc Expert has, or hack/slash dungeon crawls having orcs as 1st-level npc warrior. Start them off as 1st-level rogues with profession/craft skills of lumber jack, carpenters, shipwrights and farmers just to feed themselves and create their own war supplies.
My pass gaming shop did use 3e system rules to figure out the number of yearlong Survival checks you need at what rank levels to feed yourself, and your young family members before and during winter. Running a stone age hunter gather nomadic family low magic game is not for everyone. Now being that 6th-level npc Adept creating a +2 stone spear along with a few other items and have those items turn up a few thousand years later in your current campaign is still a cool campaign plot effect.
Had a game where a half ogre that ash painted himself and fought with a harden oak staff wrapped in raw hide and set a light with render fat into a " flaming sword," being killed by a pony ridding goat/sheep herder who lost an eye in combat created the myth of Odin/Wotan.
Sorry for the rant, hope you are enjoying your weekend.
Scro is just orcs backwards….
Can anyone tell me the name of the painting AJ Picket lifted for his thumbnail of the wizard sitting at the desk surrounded by AD&D books and a scroll?
Man I loved Spelljammer. Elvish guyvers, hippo-man mercs, neogi pirates, crazy insectoid mad doctors. And witchlight marauders need to make a comeback. They made a great basis for an Elder Evil type monster.
Okay, so the Skro are Orc-Klingons of D&D or Spell Jammer? They also follow the survival of the fittest mentality, interesting.
more lore about made monsters yes yes yes and great work looking forward to more
I love the Scro, but not for classic reasons. I was an avid reader when I was a young AD&D player who was usually the DM. I saw the Middle Earth connections to AD&D's world and ran with than in my world-building when the original source was absent.
As a teen, I created the High Orc, the precursor to just about all goblionoids as well as the superior Orcs. They were the first (or first few) generation(s) of corrupted Elves who became the anti-Elves before the Drow actually failed at being anti-Elves by being the evil Elves. The reason the could breed with anything except Elves is closely linked with them being anti-Elves, becoming the opposite of their blood origin, is because they became the antithesis to being Elf. They had positive aspects compared to Elves (such as not at all being racist except against elves) while being essentially the fantasy world version of being (selectively non-racist) Nazis. Much of their weapons, crafts, etc are technically strongly Elf in technology and quality in all ways save for magic but they are designed in cruel and functional manners. An Elf sword is a work of art that usually glows with a bit of magic. A High-Orc sword is just as good, very similar under a microscope, but is designed to deliver as much pain and as much damage as possible. It's the same weapon, but uglier…. or "the same level of ugly" to a Dwarf weapon smith.
When my friend introduced me to Spelljammer and later Scro, I fell in love with this race because I saw Scro as the rebirth of the OG bloodline of High Orc. I had my own canon and Loom of Magus universe that we both did a lot of mental gymnastics to adopt back then to work together. I began my space travel (Prime Material Plane) thing with the Barrier Peaks module as the inspiration, along with the books I read. To be honest, I hated Spelljammer at first for exactly that.
thank you!
Wonder what the elven mechs were called. Or do they fall under the umbrella of "the Witchlight Marauders"
Wait so the scro kinda sounding like the korks, speaking of wh40k
If you want to play a smart tall orc/goblinoid, why not just play a hobgoblin or gith?
…Okay, so how in the hell did calling themselves 'Scro' ever catch on? How did they not just get laughed out of the multiverse for that?
1:25 ORCanized you mean! 😁
i more interested in Spirit warriors. I have an idea for a spelljammer space mecha campaign.
Lol that bit at the end there about traditional family values
I just realized hours later that scro is literally just orcs backwards…
Lol at the orcs. Acting very human. Gang devastates every level of organization it can, stealing things, destroying things and then once they get enough resources to start their nation. They up and forgive themselves then start acting all righteous. Nevermind the fact that they only uplifted themselves into a civilization by infringing on other people's safety and wellbeing.
The elves just did what every former oppressed civilizations have wanted to do. Cull the sons of their oppressers and make them pay.
I'm always down for ancient war machines and mutant horrors.
please do
So this is spelljammer? Cool.
Lobo reference!
Scro is just orcs backwards.
Sounds like these boyz know how to Wagh!
Hey remember when the DnD multiverse became Warhammer 40k for a bit? Yeah… That was wild.
Ah, finally another desert of gourmet glue. :9
