The Ringworld: By Larry Niven 1970
In Larry Niven's "Ringworld" series, the Ringworld itself is a colossal artificial structure that orbits a star. It is shaped like a giant ring, and its dimensions are staggering:
Diameter: The Ringworld's diameter is approximately 1.6 million kilometers (about 1 million miles).
Circumference/Length: The Ringworld's circumference, or the length of its outer edge, is about 940 million kilometers (approximately 584 million miles).
Composition: The Ringworld's surface is made from a material known as "scrith," described as being incredibly strong and able to withstand impacts from meteorites without significant damage. Scrith also has the remarkable property of preventing the Ringworld from collapsing under its own gravity. The structure is designed with walls along its edges to keep the atmosphere contained, and its surface area is equivalent to about three million Earths, providing vast habitable land.
The Ringworld is an engineering marvel in science fiction, showcasing Niven's imaginative take on a megastructure capable of supporting life on a scale far beyond anything possible on traditional planets.40 million kilometers (approximately 584 million miles).
A space station might be a good idea because it can change orbit when the sun blows up.
Yes,and only Bezos,Musk,Ellison, and Facebook boy and friends will be welcome just as in the movie Elysium, except without Matt Damon
