Liberal Party Defence and National Security Policy Chair Lincoln Parker has described the Albanese government’s announcement to majorly expand its Navy fleet as “a lot of spin”.
The Labor government has pledged to spend more than $10 billion over the next decade to double Australia’s surface combatant fleet.
“Because this could be an election year, they have decided to come out and try and look strong on defence,” Mr Parker told Sky News host Erin Molan.
“However, we’re not seeing any real change in the Australian Navy in the near term.
“Not for a decade will we apparently see extra warships.”

Time wasters in Canberra. Useless the lot of them.
We won't need them. China has plenty. Our Sailors will serve on them. 😂
Then can we assume that the next Pacific war will be in 10 years then because there is no way that the government would leave Australia unprepared?
Just talking a heap of ship. 💩
Gawd, what tripe! Even the SKY News guest "experts" have zero knowledge. Makes one wonder just how many have ever set foot on a warship!
Albo's word is worthless now!
Election please.
Fuck Australia & sky nazi news
We need good people more than new ships atm.
We need ships that are capable of defending Australia in our shallow waters.
The Albanese government is giving Australians the ships. I said ships 😂.
You need 3 light carriers, 8 general purpose destoryers, 8 ASW frigates and 8 AAW frigates, 8 SSNs and at least 16 Sloop/Corvette sized ships for low intensity ops.
its all about being used by usa
