US Senate's $95bn for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan faces uphill battle in House | BBC News

The US Senate has approved a $95bn (£75bn) foreign aid package after months of political wrangling, but it faces an uphill battle in the House.

While Senate Democrats were in favour of passing the bill, Republicans were divided and previously voted it down.

The package has $60bn for Ukraine, $14bn for Israel’s war against Hamas and $10bn for humanitarian aid in conflict zones, including in Gaza.

But the House of Representatives Speaker suggested he might block it.

The package, which includes more than $8bn for Taiwan and other Indo-Pacific allies, passed the Democratic-controlled Senate by 70 to 29 in a predawn vote on Tuesday.

  2. What do you call those who stormed the government with weapons? In the USA they are called “domestic terrorists”, but in Ukraine they were called “Maidan”… Zelensky is an anarchist, he is not legitimate and has no right to be the president of a democratic country, especially since the legitimate president elected by real elections was forced to flee the country when he Anarchists tried to seize the house in 2014.

  3. Zelensky is not the president of Ukraine. He is one of those who took over the country by armed force in 2014. The President of Ukraine, elected by democracy, was forced to flee from death when anarchists tried to storm the presidential residence with weapons.

    There is no need to call Zelensky president!

    For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

    Romans 6:23
    For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

  9. As the NAC (and the allied Italian armies) retreated from Egypt to eastern and then central Libya, either in 1941 or 1942-1943, they left behind a long train of dozens of destroyed or fuel-drained vehicles , disabled guns, thousands of dead, piles of ammunition and supplies – and tens of thousands of captured soldiers.

    Somehow, after several days of searching in the depths of Russian social networks, I did not find anything similar: I cannot find anything similar related to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and "Avdiivka".

    Yes, of course: it seems that the headquarters of the 2nd company of the 1st rifle battalion of the 3rd assault brigade was captured, and its commander (junior lieutenant) was captured alive. Yes, there is a video of another 6-7 captured soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

    But there are no videos of "columns of the Armed Forces going into captivity." Even the "line-up" of some 18-20 prisoners of war, like when the Russians took Lysychansk. And there are very few videos or photos of destroyed or captured Ukrainian equipment.

    The more I search, the more I find evidence of massive losses of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Well, there's nothing I can do about it: I think all the Russians have done is grab some huge piles of rubble at what was once known as Avdiyivka. And this after 10 years of fierce fighting and (repeated) beatings of about a dozen different "DPR" brigades, as well as the Soviet Union and the GRU?

  10. Amazing that they used self-exploding drones to take out a huge ship. Apparently they are using these drones because tons of US artillery aid has been held up for months due to Republicans not wanting to put it through the House of Reps. Already went through the Senate. That’s why Avdivvka was just overwhelmed and over-bombed by Russia as military “punishment” for long-term resistance.
