'Scepticism' ahead of release of review into navy surface fleet

Strategic Analysis Australia Director Michael Shoebridge says he’s “sceptical” ahead of the release of a review into Australia’s navy surface fleet.

“I’m cautious about seeing detail because we’ve had so much vaporware about defence under the last couple of governments,” he told Sky News Australia.

“When will ships turn up? When will contracts be ended for these new ships?

“It sounds to me like we’re still talking about hypothetical things happening ten years from now.

“If we leave this implementation of this new plan to the way defence has done business for decades, there won’t be a contract for these new ships signed for six years.”

  1. The OPV, the Hunter class Frigate, and the submarine decision then re decision and still to be settled shamozzle were all LNP government decisions. That’s not to Labor governments haven’t mucked things up either, but blame both sides.

  2. What is the use of a larger navy as they cannot man the ones they have now. The military is struggling to get man power since they went WOKE and placed straight White people in a box labeled with break in case of war. They will find the box is empty.. The hatred being taught in schools for White indigenous people plus this is supported by the government and the law. Australia is dying from the inside.

  3. I think we are all sick of speeches about acquisition of hardware for the defense forces, lets see at least 1 of something, not just plans for bases and selling off bases you cant build a strong defense force with no money
