Three frigates set to be axed as part of Australian Navy restructure

Three frigates are set to be axed from Adelaide’s Hunter warship build as part of a major restructuring of the Australian Navy.

The Defence Minister will release a long-awaited response to a review of the Navy’s surface fleet today.

It will reveal the cost of building the original nine frigates has blown out by almost $20 billion.

To make up for the reduction in frigates, a new fleet of next-generation air warfare destroyers will be built.

They are aimed at countering threats posed by China.

  1. Another genius master stroke by the Labor Feds. It's ok, it's what have come to expect now, they have a reputation to maintain. As the ADF slides gracefully into a woke oblivion, and Australian borders begin to show clear signs of exposure to foreign access, first thing we need to do, cut the local building of defence ships, by one third. I am surprised we didn't contract them out to China but maybe that will be the next stage. Why did we cut the plan, well, there was a cost blow out. Was that cost blow out from the Voice referendum? or was it the solar panels and wind turbines? We will never know, its all behind closed doors. Of course we are far too stupid to figure that out. But as we are assured, it is absolutely all caused by the previous Libs Govt, of course. Vote, vote, vote. It's all there is. You get what you vote for.

  2. Why would you get rid of any working friget, before the installation of new ones. This lying, unintelligent, moronic government and the woke useless defence department has a death wish for Australia.

  3. You can imagine a super navy that you can build by 2035 but if World War 3 happens before 2030 what good is that super navy that’s not ready yet? Are the designs of these new aerial warfare destroyers already complete and construction can begin right away? Can the first ships be commissioned in two or three years?

  4. China is producing a fleet every year in the size of the English navy .If they are scared of Australia. FOCUS ON HOME SOIL PROBLEMS LIKE HOUSING AND PULBIC HOSPITALS ,NOT SPEND TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS EVERY YEAR ,THAT ANDREW BOLT WANTS.

  5. It's just theatre for the masses, our governments (Not just labor) waste so much money on entertaining the whims of the ignorant while totally neglecting any long-term plans for Australia's security. Should reality hit hard, like another world war, we will be defenseless and will pay the ultimate price for our ignorance and pure stupidity. 🦘
