A member of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force was killed while three others were injured during a drive-by shooting in Diego Martin on Sunday 18th February, 2024.
• The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Denapoli Nicholai Greene, a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment (TTR).
• Around 9:45pm, Greene was reportedly liming with a group along La Puerta Avenue near a carwash, when a silver vehicle pulled up next to the group.
• Two men, armed with guns subsequently emerged from the vehicle and fired several shots, hitting Green and three other victims before fleeing.
• The police and emergency health services were notified and the responding officers conveyed the injured men to the St James District Hospital, where Greene succumbed to his injuries.
• The other three victims, aged 18, 20, and 27, received medical treatment for injuries that were not life-threatening.
• Crime scene investigators also visited the scene and recovered several rifle-calibre spent shells.
• Region One Homicide detectives are continuing inquiries.
This was the second incident this month where a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Protective Services was shot and killed.
Just on Friday 9th February, 2024, off-duty police corporal reg no. 16573 Marlone Mitchell was shot and killed during a confrontation with a man outside Lolita’s bar along the Southern Main Road in Mc Bean Village, Couva.
