Dramatic footage has been released online apparently showing a special unit of the Ukrainian armed forces destroying a Russian vessel by repeatedly striking the hull with unmanned kamikaze naval drones.
According to a defence intelligence update from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, a special unit known as Group 13 destroyed the missile corvette Ivanovets, which belonged to Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. Western officials later confirmed the sinking.

It’s war. No one is untouchable, so knock off of superiority complexes from both sides. Ukraine 🇺🇦 is losing and is desperate to make futile attacks in hopes of maintaining Western attention.. So they sunk an old Corvette that was strategically insignificant to the conflict.. Ukraine 🇺🇦 wasted resources, and this doesn’t change the outcome that they are losing and are gonna lose. The only question is will they lose another 500,000 dead before futility sinks in their heads. Guess we are about to find out..
A 500 ton (i.e the weight of several too fat to fight Abrams tanks) Soviet-era missile boat that has outdated weapons and sensors. You would have thought they has sunk something of value after losing 9 USV's to attack it.
The repairs of the damaged Rostov-on-Don diesel-electric submarine of project 636.3 of the Black Sea fleet will be completed in June 2024, a source in the military-industrial complex told TASS.
"The Sevastopol Shipyard (affiliate of Zvyozdochka Shipyard) will complete the repairs of the Rostov-on-Don and eliminate the damage inflicted on September 13, 2023 by a Ukrainian cruise missile strike at the enterprise by the end of the first half of the year," the source said.
TASS has no official confirmation of the report.
The 13th Shipyard is the main contractor for the overhaul. The Admiralty Shipyard that built the submarine also participates, the source said.
On September 13, 2023, Ukraine delivered a missile strike at the Sevmorzavod Shipyard in Sevastopol where the Rostov-on-Don sub and the Minsk big amphibious assault ship of the Baltic fleet were undergoing an overhaul. The Defense Ministry said both damaged warships would be restored to continue service in their fleets.
A source told TASS the damage sustained by the Rostov-on-Don was not critical and will not considerably prolong the overhaul of the submarine.
Several warships of the Baltic and Northern fleets entered the Black Sea before Russian launched the special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
Russia will begin repairs of the Minsk big amphibious assault ship of project 775 of the Baltic fleet damaged by a Ukrainian strike in 2024, a source close to Crimean law enforcers told TASS.
"The moored Minsk has damaged superstructure. The repairs will begin this year. The decision has been made," the source said.
TASS has no official confirmation of the report.
Another Crimean source earlier told TASS the Minsk was likely to get the superstructure of the Konstantin Olshansky former big landing ship of the Ukrainian Navy. In 2014, she was abandoned together with 20 other warships in Crimea. Project 775 has a superstructure made of aluminum-magnesium alloy.
Ukraine delivered a cruise missile strike at Sevastopol Shipyard on September 13, 2023. The Minsk and the Rostov-on-Don diesel-electric submarine were undergoing an overhaul there and were damaged. The Defense Ministry said both warships would be repaired as the damage was not critical. The overhaul of the submarine is likely to be completed in the first half of the year.
The Minsk sailed to the Black Sea before the special military operation began in Ukraine.
Ukraine’s government has informed the US administration about President Vladimir Zelensky’s decision to fire the Ukrainian armed forces’ commander, Valery Zaluzhny, The Washington Post (WP) reported citing sources.
The newspaper said that White House officials "did not support or object to" Zaluzhny’s dismissal. The WP said that the US administration acknowledges the decision to fire Ukraine’s top military commander "as the president’s sovereign choice.".
