25 Year Old Make Up & How I wore it 25 Years Ago! Yep, some of this stuff is old!

So…I have a hard time letting go! I’ve kept my favorite foundation which I’ve mentioned many times, no you get to see it in action! Some of my Bobbi Brown eyeshadows which were pretty much perfect and even old blushes that still look pretty good.

  1. Hi I used to get my foundation from Prescriptives as nowhere else could I get a colour match, but I only used it for evenings out. During the day I used Bobbi Brown's tinted balm in extra light – very sheer coverage, but I had good skin and didn't have to cover the rosacea i now have at 50. I used a lot of Bobbi Brown and her pot rouge blush everyday. The gel eyeliner and her cream shadows were staples and I had quite a few lol. I also had a couple of shimmer bricks when they were very first released – as I said a lot of Bobbi Brown and I too had her books. I think I used Estee Lauder and lancome mascaras – both were available near me and I had to go to the city to get my bobbi brown bits and pieces. I also used some bare minerals when it was first released and had quite a few loose pigments. I remember using Chanel lipsticks I saved up for and some bobbi brown sandwash pink as a day time staple. Those are the main things I remember and I remember being so sad when Prescriptives disappeared, as I have always had a real struggle with a decent shade match to my ultra pale skin. Nowadays the best matches are Dior forever skin glow in 00N and lancome teint idole in 008/091 for reference – the palest of the pale Scottish skin lol. Best wishes.

  2. That is sad because it truly is the greatest foundation I’ve ever seen in you. There are plenty of others that look great but wow on this one, you’re right. Ugh so aggravating. It’s beautiful.

  3. What a fun video! I loved it when you brought out the powder kohl eyeliner. I still have one in black and I remember they also had one in blue. I used that liner almost everyday! Back in the day we didn't think about liner making our eyes smaller cuz they were so much larger! Great trip down memory lane. I thought you pretty much still rocked the look🥰

  4. Your look is great. Your eye make up was modern back then. My entry into makeup was with Lancôme. Memories….I never used bronzer or primers back then. My makeup only lasted a few hours, no wonder!

  5. I loved PX . We didn’t ever had it in Germany and I couldn’t wait to get to a counter during holiday and get a custom made shade in Foundation and Powder. They had such good stuff, also in Skincare.
This is such a fun video and a pretty look.

I also have 25 year old items (collectors items or specific colors) and I call it my Make-Up museum to look back at and for historic acurateness of course 😂. Maybe someone finds it in 100 years and is like, wow, what was that used for 😂

  6. Good morning. Wow. I had no idea some makeup is usable when old. Usually once per year, I clean out my collection and hate throwing things out. I am definitely going to hang onto my stuff for longer. I remember getting the same Clinique set as a teenager. I absolutely agree with you that Clinique was originally meant for young women. A friend of mine who managed the Lauder counter at Macy's 25 years ago, used to talk about middle-aged women asking for anti-aging products at the Clinique counter because it ticked her off. I believe Clinique offers those products now. This was a lot of fun. Lots of good memories. Wow. Prescriptives they used to be so popular and I didn't notice them almost disappearing. I wonder if Lauder owns that one too. I wonder what happened to Max Factor? They used to be a huge drugstore brand. I wore their, "Wine & Roses" lipstick for YEARS. I completely forgot about Factor til now.

  7. GRRRR. I remember Charles of the Ritz but never had the opportunity to try it. Thanks a lot Revlon. Speaking of Revlon, when did they become such a yawn? Maybe I missed something but I do not think Revlon has done anything interesting since their Color Stay line. I used to be a fan of Lancome but have not forgiven them for letting Isabelle Rosselini go.

  8. You ABSOLUTELY can get away with this look. Your eyes look so vibrant. I tend to stay away from wearing liner in the same way because my eyes look smaller. However, after seeing it on you, I am going to give it another try. I really like those little wings on you too. I did not think adding the lilac at the end would do much but, it really did brighten up your eyes.

  9. I used to use Elizabeth Arden Mascara in a burgundy tube with a gold top for years!!…loved it. I used Prescriptives and still have two of their eye shadows that came in a dark gray/brown plastic compact…there were 3 colors in those compacts. When I was younger I loved Bonne Bell lip gloss?…came in different flavors, more like a very moist lip balm and I loved the one in Strawberry. There was also some make-up from Yardley supposedly made in London…during the time of the Beatles!! Years ago I loved a sheer moist lip stick called Sucre that Lancome made…one of my favorites!!…and that's when I started using Lancome Blush named Aplum which I still have.

Your completed look today did look nice on you actually…I don't think the kohl made your eyes look smaller but did make them pop more. Interesting vlog of "the good old days"…for some of us it was eons ago!!…lol!!

  10. I have a Clinique cream blush which I absolutely adore which was discontinued years and years ago.. I hardly dare use it as it’s nearly gone… it must be 30 years old, a lovely rosewood colour, I can’t find anything to match it and Lord knows I’ve tried!!! Prescriptives was wonderful, I was dismayed when they disappeared. My first posh purchase was ? Princess Gallitzaine?? … something like that… a princess Diana type blue eyeliner… loved it… x

  11. Prescriptives was my "gateway" makeup drug….started using it when I was 19yo and got hooked on Nordstom and high-end makeup. that was 32 years ago and . I used Prescriptives on and off until it was discontinued. I loved many of the makeup and skincare cleanser. Moved to MAC then BB in my 20s. Fawn is still one of my favorites, along with Stone. This was so fun and you have made me want to go back to my retro products and looks. Thanks!

  12. Love the look, are you of Irish descent? I’m very similar colouring – skin tone & eye colour but dark haired. Finding a suitable foundation is a lifelong mission that I thoroughly appreciate!

  13. Oh I remember Perscriptives (not sure how to spell it) Gosh, that takes me back a few 😊 & you're absolutely right, Clinique was also my first higher end brand that I ever bought in the mid 90's. I felt so grown up & sophisticated buying makeup from the Clinique stand instead of the drugstore makeup I'd been using up til then xx

  14. Hi! I’m new to your channel and I like the eyeliner! But then I like eyeliner anyway. Without it my eyes would disappear. I’m remembering my first lip gloss in jr high – Yardley’s Pot O Gloss – and in high school a creamy pot of pastel blue VERY frosty eyeshadow. And I still 😱use Great Lash original formula. Ha! This was fun!

  15. I started with Clinique also 😂 I’m older than you, I’m 62 and I know what you mean about how face changes 😢. I stopped using makeup with Covid, and now I’m starting to get into to it. I love makeup 💄 and I was starting to get depressed. 2 years with no makeup. Now I go much lighter because I don’t want to look ridiculous 🤷🏼‍♀️

  16. Great video! It’s funny because it was eyeliner for me that made me realise I had to rethink my make up application. I used to wear black winged eyeliner but as my hooded eyes got droopier it stopped working! Your 25 year okd make up routine fairs pretty well I think! I think you could pull off the eyes if you just had eyeliner on the top and not bottom as well, or if you used a grey or brown instead as it would be less harsh. I love the purple iridescent BB eyeshadow!
