Four Ukrainian tactics that have stopped Russia’s winter offensive and their one major flaw

The frontline may not be moving, but battles are raging all along it as Russia’s generals carry out a brutal winter offensive and try to deliver Putin a victory in time for the election in March.

So far, Ukraine has stopped it dead – inflicting huge casualties on the Russians in places like Avdiivka, Kupyansk, Kreminna and Bakhmut.

How have they done it? Here, we examine four clever tactics the Ukrainians have been using to level the playing field between their small but dogged defence units and Putin’s much larger forces.

  1. US Aircraft is not funny. Very hard to learn, yet also, every yard held is a small but important step forward. If Europe was smart, they would end this war without U.S. Tech. It's expensive.

  2. You are NEVER going to hear Western Main Stream ever Media admit to Russia winning anything or give an honest unbiased opinion about this war, it's that simple. As an ex-military Brit who served all the way through the Cold War and into the 90's and 00's we have woefully underestimated the Russians, just like we did in Afghanistan.

  3. New intel shows that Russia's real goals is to overthrow west/us dominamce not just Ukraine. So they are lighting up war flames everywhere – from gaza to yemen. This will become real bad, but western governments are in denial of reality.

  4. Russia's MOD has pretty much trashed its best offensive leaders. No more Prigozhins to take the Russian banner forward.

Where there be smoke, there be fire. Prigozhin warned that the Russian MOD was not properly supporting his Wagner troops in Bakhmut. He was furious over the Russian MOD's approach in handling his troops. Yet, Prigozhin is the only reason that Russia had any major victory in 2024. And most likely they took him out.

The Russian slow down will occur until Spring and Early Summer. By then the Russian military will realize its mistakes on how it handled its best offensive troops and commanders. By then, they will start to correct their offensive ways towards their offensive commanders. Meanwhile, no great victories for Putin.

  5. If Russia is going to challenge NATO it's likely he will ehen NATO forces are already committed to a war in the middl east, which seems to be the way things are going. The top brass of the UK military can see this, which is why they've been pushing for mandatory service in the UK.

  6. Ukraine has received $250 billion in aid of which $100 billion has been military aid. I challenge you to spend $100 billion dollars on military equipment and post the list of military equipment in a response. Then I challenge you to explain how the country that received all of that is not winning this war hands down. Then I challenge you to explain where the other $150 billion was spent. Then I will vote to send more aid to Ukraine.
